In my first semester I was driven to suicide because of the atmosphere there and fortunately survived. It is a damaging environment in many ways, unsafe area of town, buildings falling apart, nothing to do, pitiful library. It is a joke of a university and I don't understand why the government hasn't shut it down. It is simply a disgrace to the American higher education system and makes a joke of it. I think for the better. I believe you get a better education and are better taught how to function in a lost world. I made many long-lasting friendships. It wasn't perfect, but none are. The teachers and faculty were strict, but caring. They wanted you to succeed. Some were legalistic, some weren't. You can't put them all in the same box. Dr. Roberson was strict, but I saw the caring side of him also. He helped many students through rough times, and didn't expect anything in return. It was so legalistic and conservative that it failed to prepare anyone for the real world. Unless you were one of a few "favorite students" you were largely ignored on campus, despite your talents and contributions. For every genuine, quality person I met, there were ten others who would turn their nose up at you if they didn't deem you "Christian enough" for their company. Dr. Lovett is an asshole and so is the entire staff at TTU. None of the teachers make time for you yet they make you feel so important. The school is just one huge contradiction. There the fakest people that I know. Do not attend this college. Go to Lee University. Temple blows ass. The food is terrible and so are the people.
