Not so bright
I have attended 3 Universities, 2 in TN and 1 in ID. While those other Universities were wonderful, I am very grateful for my experience at TTU.

The campus is beautiful and very safe, day and night. The professors are challenging, helpful and approachable. I have built some wonderful relationships with my professors, and having experienced 3 different majors at TTU, I can honestly say some fields are more challenging than others.

This is not a party school, so if you are interested in that, go somewhere else. However, this is a great school for individuals serious about their education. The surrounding area is quaint, safe, and beautiful. There are plenty of activities to do if you look for it. Wonderful parks offer hiking, swimming, fishing, disc golf, etc. There are a few clubs that offer nightlife activities. The school offers various clubs/organizations and intramural sports if interested. The fitness center is very nice and the overall campus is well maintained.

Even though TTU is small, it still offers dynamic experiences with a diverse student population. I did not respect TTU's educational programs until I started talking with students from other universities and discovered what a great education Tech has to offer! If you like the small town feel and want to get a quality education, this is the school for you.

Super Brilliant
Seriously, campus police write parking tickets while capital quad has gun wielding drug dealers...nobody in administrative positions has any idea what's going on. Furthermore, Cookeville is a shithole town with absolutely nothing to do besides go to church or get hammered.

Quite Bright
The school as a whole was not helpful in answering questions about Financial Aid and what happens to it if you drop out for any reason. I went to 2 different departments asking what happens and neither offered any kind of answer. Withdrawing from the university was too easy and if you wait until the first day of classes you only get a 75% refund even though you didnt even attend any classes for the semester. If you dont think you will stay there do NOT go. At all. Especially if your an out of state student. Out-of-state tuition is rediculous and if you want to be $125,000 in debt when you graduate this is the school for you. Also, if you live in one of the on-campus apartments they were built in the 70's and when you put in a work order they do not come and fix anything no matter how often you call and ask or go to the office.

The College of Education is a bunch of lazy idiots. I have had more problems trying to get them to understand simple paperwork than anyone. They do not respond to emails or phone calls. They hold classes for those stupid kids who haven't taken them, dooming everyone else to fall behind. They cannot communicate with the records department to see if you have the correct requirements on file. Tech is alright, but many things are complete bogus-1) how they have special classes for only athletes and 2) their education department.
