Okay so the first thing I want to point out is that most of these terrible comments are completely ridiculous! I mean honestly, what do you think you are going to college for? To learn how to do a keg stand? How to play beer pong? I mean let's get serious people. Yes college is suppose to be about having fun and meeting new people. But it is also about getting an education to get a actual job. You do not pay thousands of dollars to go out and party every night. Yes there is honestly not all that much to do in Cookeville. We have a few new clubs and a new gaming place. Not to mention all of the bars that are around town.

BUT if you are wanting an outstanding education with professors who actually care about your future. Then TTU is the place for you. Rather than being treated like a number, you are treated like a person. Their doors were always opened if anyone needed help. I learned so much from going to this school. I could go on and on about all of the benefits to become a golden eagle. If you want a party school go somewhere else, get drunk, then 4 years from now ask yourself why you are flipping burgers for a living.

4th Year Female -- Class 2014

Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: D+

I think time is the best judge for the quality of one's education. I can honestly say after working with engineers from all over the country I realized how good my education was. I passed the PE exam first time as well as four of my friends I went to school with. I don't even work in public consulting. Tech did an awesome job teaching the theory of why things work and prepared you for graduate school or going to work for Nissan. I have gotten 7 patents and designed products for over 9 years using my Tech education. It is not a fun party school, but if your have some maturity and want to make some money and have a great career it is well worth a look. I had several friends who went on to get masters and PHds from Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, and University Illonis Champagne and all commented that Tech did a great job preparing them. I can't say if the quality of education is their only secret. They did a great job of weeding out people who shouldn't be in the field and devaluing the universities reputation.

4th Year Male -- Class 1997

Education Quality: A+, Social Life: C-

I have attended 3 Universities, 2 in TN and 1 in ID. While those other Universities were wonderful, I am very grateful for my experience at TTU.

The campus is beautiful and very safe, day and night. The professors are challenging, helpful and approachable. I have built some wonderful relationships with my professors, and having experienced 3 different majors at TTU, I can honestly say some fields are more challenging than others.

This is not a party school, so if you are interested in that, go somewhere else. However, this is a great school for individuals serious about their education. The surrounding area is quaint, safe, and beautiful. There are plenty of activities to do if you look for it. Wonderful parks offer hiking, swimming, fishing, disc golf, etc. There are a few clubs that offer nightlife activities. The school offers various clubs/organizations and intramural sports if interested. The fitness center is very nice and the overall campus is well maintained.Even though TTU is small, it still offers dynamic experiences with a diverse student population. I did not respect TTU's educational programs until I started talking with students from other universities and discovered what a great education Tech has to offer! If you like the small town feel and want to get a quality education, this is the school for you.
