While my department is great, this school isQuite BrightPolitical Science
While my department is great, this school is awful. I wish this department was at another school because my professors in the poll sci department are the best in the country by far. They belong at Ivy League colleges, the only reason they are at ACU is because of personal and family ties to the town and the college. Going to a liberal Arts college, specifically ACU is easily the worst decision I have ever made in my entire life. Most of the students are either arrogant jerks on the athletic side or arrogant jerks on the nerd/hipster side. There are no normal people here. All the girls that are single are either crazy, ugly, have issues, or run around. So even though it is like a 1 guy to 4 girls ratio, and they sell that to male prospective students, while that is true, it is not representative of the number of girls you would actually want to date. Unless you are brad pitt, you aren't finding a girl that is wife material here.

The hipsters on campus, and they are the majority, are unbearable, its as if I went to some hippie community college in Seattle or San Francisco, and they are mean as snakes! They look down on people outside of there group, even other hipsters. At least the jocks mostly leave people alone.

The town is so boring it makes me want to cry, the only things open after 10 is whataburger, which has a huge crowd on the weekends, like a 20 minute wait for a burger and God forbid you go through the drive through, and this one "club" called guitars that sucks. I worked in clubs back in Dallas. I know what a good lounge/bar/club looks like and how it works regardless of style or type of person they want to bring it, this place is has multiple personality disorder. Rap music one second then slow country the next, then metal, the djs suck and have no clue how to read a crowd. Pick a genre and stick to it, or have theme nights where all you do is that theme. Quit playing slip not next to lil john and conway twitty. Also, the bartenders are rude and the drinks are watered down to levels that warrant a lawsuit for fraud. The police crack down on parties too much too, what do you expect us to do in a town that shuts down at six? And these are not crazy, college parties you see on tv, these are parties that are rivaled by children's parties. With the rare exception, they only way you might assume a party is happening is the amount of cars out on the street. No loud music, no crazy stunts, nothing warranting arrests or even fines most of the time.

Don't even get me started on the dust, this place looks like the middle east when the dust storms blow in, which is often. The wind whips up this red stuff that coats everything, and it is near constant.

The price of the school is outrages too, the place is older than the dirt its built on and everything is broken, but you pay an arm and a leg to go here. Its like all the money is going to drug habits the board members have, or they just burn all the money at the beginning of every semester. In summary, even if your parents will only support you financially if you go here or they "force" you to go here, don't. If they loved you and knew anything they wouldn't force a decision on their kid, and they would allow you to go to a school you might actually enjoy and get your money's worth. If all they will chip in for is this, forget it, take out loans or go to community college for basic credits first and save money. If they banish you from the family because of your choice for college, forget them, they don't care for you like they should.

This school is full of students from allAveragePolitical Science
This school is full of students from all different religions not just church of christ. I personally love all of the volunteer opportunities and faith based this school is. The freshman midnight curfew is not a big deal it gives you more time to get to know the people in your hall. If you are a female I would highly recommend living in Nelson your freshman year as everybody is really close. The professors are great. I am a double major and have been told with block tuition that I can be graduate in 4 years. The downside is that the tuition is a little pricey. The campus is not right in the heart of town, so a car would be a GREAT idea. Come be an ACU wildcat:)

Do not attend ACU.BrightJournalism
Do not attend ACU. It is not worth the money, it is not worth the time, and you will seriously regret it.

Food was decent, the Cafeteria had a to go option which I utilized often, and the food was okay (just avoid it on Weekends). The campus centers food options were decent as well (Chick Fil A, Pizza Hut, Quiznos, and Einsteins) they did get old after a while though.

Campus is pretty, they keep it up pretty well with fresh flowers and landscaping.
-There is literally NOTHING to do in Abilene. Pretty much everyone goes out on the weekend and gets drunk and then goes to church (classy right?). Unless you want to go hang out and the tiny worthless mall, or go see a movie your weekends will be stuck in a dorm.

-Majority of people that come to ACU come here because their parents and grandparents did. They all seem to know each other from Church camp or Church or whatever, so its really hard to fit in and make friends.

-Social Clubs, what a joke. These faux fraternities and sororities are available if you want to pay for friends. Their hazing methods are laughable, and the whole process is a waste of money. If you like paying $500+ just to make friends you might want to reevaluate your life.

-Chapel. Basically ACU shoves the Church of Christ way down your throat by making you attend mandatory 55 credit hours of chapel PER SEMESTER. If you dont go all 55 times they punish you by putting you on chapel probation. Chapel is excruciating, and those who say they actually like it need a lobotomy. Basically you have to sit through awful singing and then someone preaching at you almost every day. No thank you.

-The people. Everyone at ACU is super judgmental and hypocritical. The teachers bleep out any curse word in a movie clip and treat you like you're 7 years old. The students all act righteous and mighty but then on weekends get so drunk and sleep with everyone, but on Sunday they're all in church, and JUDGE you for not going. They will try to shove the bible down your throat, and bash any beliefs you have that aren't the same as theirs. They will try to make a bible lesson out of anything. I'm sorry, but what does BUSINESS have to do with Jesus?

-Freshman dorms gives you curfew at Midnight every weekday night, and if you're late you get fined. You're not allowed to have boys in your room unless its Thursday night, but you have to leave the door open. -Jobs. Majority of people from my department (JMC) graduate and don't have jobs. Even the star students of the department graduated and couldn't find any work (other universities this isn't the case). The internship quality is poor, goodluck finding quality internships in Abilene. The Journalism Mass Communication Department is okay, but they're SEVERELY lacking compared to other schools. The majority of funds at ACU goes to funding the Bible Department and then the second amount goes to the Business department. If you want any chance of finding a job with your degree go to a school like TCU or UT.
