The Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin is as good as it gets in terms of providing students both the in-depth understanding and the skill set necessary to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I believe AOMA is a work in progress because of both internal and external factors. Internally the faculty is very knowledgable and approachable. Staff is still trying to work out the kinks of being an educational institution for profit and still putting the students first. However, from my experiences at other TCM schools, AOMA is fairly organized. Externally the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has caused a number of changes at the school through their regulations -- some of which make no sense for a TCM school. All in all AOMA has been a good experience.

The school's two greatest assets are the faculty and the student clinic. The faculty memebers all have exceptional training and experience. It is very easy to ask them questions and get honest answers from their own experiences. The student clinic is professionally run, and provides a valuable medical care resource to the commuinity.
