Married Ph.D. student in Church-State Studies/Religion, Politics, and Society. Very generous Ph.D. fellowship; great professors to work with. Waco takes a while to grow on you. If you have kids, it's a nice town to raise a family. Big, but not too big. No rush hour commute, nice shopping, nice restaurants, parks, zoo, museums, etc. Parts of Waco are ugly, but parts are really nice. My time at Baylor has been great.

I do not recommend this program for anyone seeking research experience, or preparing for a doctorate degree. MS in this departments stands for missing stimulation, while HHPR stands for high hopes possibly ruined.

I definitely should have gone to SUNY Birmingham or Northern Illinois University. Their accounting programs are just as good, plus, they're not in this shithole Waco. OK, there're some things to tell you after 9 months I've spent here.

Waco really is a shithole. I haven't talked much to Wacoan people. I don't think they're bad. I just think the city looks messed up. There's nothing here. Social life is dead.
Baylor University looks much better in pictures than it really is. Before I came down here, I thought it was good looking, but once I'm here, I think it's just OK looking, no more no less.

Just like any other place on earth, some people here are nice, and some aren't. But let me tell you many of these kids over here think they're better than others because their parents are rich, they drive better cars, and such. But they're not that bright. As a GA, I penalized them for every single mistake they make on their assignments :D hahaha. Some kids at church are pretty friendly and helpful. Please stay away from those who always talk about God, though. I don't think they're really sincere. If you talk about your family, your studies, your job or the like, they just nod and look elsewhere, and you realize, "Fuck, I'm talking to myself."

But yeah guys, chicks over here are pretty hot. You know, Texas's very tanned blondes with extremely short miniskirts (Yeah, I wonder what's up with the conservatism against sex. Hahaha. You wear suggestive clothes, and say you don't care about sex??? Liars!!!) Many chicks are easy to talk to, but it's not that easy to get laid here. Some chicks are really bitches. There's this bitch in one of my grad accounting class who's so bitchy and bossy. She thinks since her dad is a fucking vice president of some darn stupid bank in Texas, she's cool. She's not ugly but she looks like an old witch, and would always tell you what you did was wrong. Once you stand up and tell her she's wrong instead, then she'll cry and talk to the professor that you're an ass. Stay away from such bitches.

Professors of the Accounting department are just OK. I've never felt close to any one of them. They tend to treat students who did their undergraduate studies at Baylor better than those who start their master's degrees here. I didn't get any scholarship although many dumb students were awarded scholarships. I didn't get help in terms of career services. I had to do everything myself. I don't feel I have been treated fairly. So people, if you don't do your undergraduate work here at Baylor, don't come here for your master's. It ain't worth it. Go north. They're much cooler up there. I wish I had accepted SUNY Birmingham's or NIU's offer. The only consolation is that they do have some damned good looking professors in the department. You know these ladies even at their 40s and 50s still care much about their bodies. Wonder how active their sex lives are.

Anyway if you're already here, don't be too upset. Try to get a girl and do it... There're lots of hot chicks over here. It's worth a try. Oh, and the MBA program, I have to admit, is much cooler than the Accounting program. People in this program are much nicer, since they're from different areas of the country. They're not racist as kids in the Accounting program.
