Some of the reviews on here seem to be a bit dated, so here's a more modern review. Currently, I go to the Central Park Campus (McKinney), but have gone to the Spring Creek Campus (Plano) as well. Let me just say, this school is a GREAT VALUE. Cheapest tuition in ALL OF TEXAS! I got into decent schools coming out of high school (A&M,Arkansas,OU) but decided to stay home and attend Collin for a year. I saved around $20,000 by doing this! My total expenses for the whole year was around $100 because I got a scholarship that covered most of it! The campuses are very very nice especially for community colleges. They honestly look better than some 4 year universities I've looked at. Beautiful buildings. The faculty is also good for the most part. Occasionally you may get a professor who doesn't speak very good english, but just check RateMyProfessors.com to check out your professors before registering for classes. The classes are pretty challenging(at least more than High School). The social life here isn't terrible, but you HAVE TO PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE! In many classes it's obvious the students don't want to be there and keep to themselves. Just be friendly and check out some of the student organizations and you should be fine. You'll meet some great people here if you just look around. Collin College is also a great community college when you're looking to transfer to a 4 year. I've known people here who get into places like UT-Austin, SMU, Baylor, etc. They also have a partnership with local colleges that gurantees pre-admission. Some of the colleges are UNT, UTD, A&M(I think), SMU, and a couple other decent schools. This school really is the best bang for your buck. Will be attending here again in the Fall.

I have a bachelor's degree from another university and coming back to Collin College was a mistake. The majority of teachers are rude, the deans of the programs are rude, and the students still act like they are in high school. Out of all my teachers there I have had about 6 good teachers out of probably 20. I have had teachers call me stupid, accuse me of being abused as a child, and hate me and take off 30 points off assignments because I had a higher degree then the professor. My advice, do not go to this school and if you are make sure you look at the professors on "Ratemyprossors.com"

Do not rely on anything anyone tells you. You need to get it in writing, and even that won't help you. Your patience will be tried. Your time will be non-important. Lines are ALWAYS long. You will ALWAYS be giving misinformation, made to fill out paper work that you don't need and made to wait in line after time needlessly. The staff is unhelpful. Also, you must triple check and ride everyone to graduate...which will not happen on time, so don't plan on it. Everything at this college takes too long. It is not the norm. It is just this place. Especially at Spring Creek. Examples: I had to wait a month to get tuition refunded on a cancelled course, when I paid cash. It took five weeks for them to acknowledge the receipt of transcripts, and because of this it took an exact year to obtain an associates from the date I put in my application for graduation. It took nearly seven months for them to process the form because they lost it twice. And, they will tell you to contact the Department of Education for forms and letters that do not exists to prolong your wait.
