| Bright | Most people leave for two reasons: (1) They get home-sick and wish to go back home or (2) They cannot stand the rules and transfer out. Sometimes someone might transfer out to a better-known college or because the school may lack their degree... but seriously, shouldn't you know these things coming in? So many people have a problem with the rules, which I never have understood because it is a Christian Univeristy and rules are clearly stated upon registration and in campus books every year. Overall, going to ETBU was one of the best (if not the best) time of my life. I had a social life, class work, and had oppurtunities on campus to minister (and learn to minister). | Education Quality: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: B+ | | | |

| Quite Bright | This university is like a high school. People separate into cliques and the Christian life is quite complacent. I transferred to Howard Payne Univ. after 1 semester (and I love it). Also they are very strict with their rules. Absolutely no slack (and lots of fines for the most stupid things). | Perceived Campus Safety: A-, Social Life: F | | | |

| Average | To me living on campus is like living at high school...all the drama again. you cant really trust people there. everyone knows your secret the day after you tell your "friend." Besides all the social junk the school is great. too many jesus freaks... and too many hypocrits. | University Resource Use: A+, Surrounding City: F | | | |

I had a wonderful experience at ETBU, and have encouraged others to consider attending also. I do think, though, that many times you get out of something what you put into it. The friends that I made while attending are a prize, and I can't imagine not knowing them. I had great roommates during my 4 years (we all had quirks, but the quality of the students is solid for the most part). It's a close-knit community of people who become like a family over time.
Academically, I learned a whole lot in my chosen field (business) in addition to a broad spectrum of other fields taught at the school. Perhaps most importantly, I was taught HOW to think for myself, rather than being taught to blindly believe what others profess to be true.
When it came time for me to apply for admission into graduate school, the faculty and administration were willing to help me by writing references and discussing various options with me.
Spiritually, I grew not only in knowledge, but also in practicing my faith. I know of no other place where a student can put their faith into practice in as many ways as are available through ETBU's campus and community ministries. The only thing I would say negatively is that not many people outside of Texas have heard of this school, so the prestige factor isn't high. However, that makes it more fun to run into another former student unexpectedly. If you're looking for a quality education in an environment that encourages growth and development, then you should consider ETBU. | Starting Job: Youth Pastor at Servant's Heart Fellowship, Preparedness: A, Reputation: D+ | | |
