I attended SAGU for 4 years. I liked being in a Christian atmosphere but feel it was over-religious. Every student is required to take 30 semester hours of Bible/Theology courses ( which is equal to 10 classes). I found a majority of these courses a waste of time and money. The only 2 classes of these types I enjoyed was New Testament survery and Old Testament survery. I am not Assemblies of God. I knew a lot of students there who were not Assemblies of God. I just felt like the Assemblies of God was shoved down my throat moreover than being a good Christian who makes good decisions. I knew when I went there that I would have to attend chapel services. What I did not know was that they were going to be every day, also requiring Sunday morning and Sunday evening off-campus church attendance, plus some manditory night services. I went there to be educated not churched. I could have saved my money and gone to church if that is what I was looking for. The music department was very lackluster. There was only one bright spot, an instructor named Brandon Keaton. He seemed to be the only instuctor who really knew music and wanted to truly educate musicians. If you want classical training, it is almost non-existant at SAGU. It is all about the music of the church, whether that is what you plan to do with your career or not. Overall, if i knew what I know now, I would have chosen somewhere else to study Music.

Quite Bright
School allows students with ACT scores of below 15. Classes are dragged down by students who need assistance. Great access to faculty. Campus security is nearly non existent. I have personally seen the school cover over sexual harrassment claims.

Average
Spiritually spooky! Sensationalism bombards the chapel and prayer services resulting in pseudo spiritual enlightenment with a temporal "spiritual fix" that last a few days and back to living like the devil until the next weekly chapel service. This seemed to be more prominent amongst the preacher kids. Hmmm. Don't know why. The education is poor and the cost is inflated. Most former students do not carry on in their chosen majors following their stay at southwestern a of g university. Also, incredible arrogance/hypocrisy amongst certain staff.

Super Brilliant
Class A Joke. Unless you want to be a missionary or youth pastor (you'd still be better off not attending SAGU), look elsewhere.

Academia sucks here. "Righteous indignation" triumphs over reasona and common human compasison.

Good waste of 4 years of my life and countless dollars.
