Nearing the end of my first year atQuite BrightCriminal
Nearing the end of my first year at Texas State, I just have to say that this place is so awesome. I have learned alot in my classes and this school has helped me mature faster than I ever have. The people are very friendly and the atmosphere is diverse. The social life is awesome. There is always something to do whether it be a weekend or not! Being in a fraternity, I know that there is a strong resentment towards the greek organizations by many of the people that aren't a part of them, so if you're planning on rushing beware of people that hate. Nevertheless, this school is awesome and I would and do reccomend anyone who is interested in getting a well rounded education, and having fun in the process to come check out San Marcos Texas!

Question
The best four years of my life wereBrightCommunications
The best four years of my life were spent attending this college. It may be in a relatively small town but there are large cities within 30 minutes away so you don't feel like you are trapped in a small college town. The Texas hill country creates a beautiful setting for SWT and it has competitive academic programs with helpful proffessors. I don't agree with the other people who have submitted reviews about this college that think most of the students at this school are from small towns. True, there are some, but for the most part everyone I knew were from large cities such as Houston or Dallas. There is a social group for everyone at this school, and the opportunity for everyone to live the total college experience. Anyone who did not enjoy going to this school is probably a homebody with some sort of social anxiety disorder or something! I don't think there is any way to NOT have the time of your life at SWT!

Question
Southwest Texas State University is in need ofOther
Southwest Texas State University is in need of improvement, however; I strongly believe that it is a university where one can get out of it exactly what they put into it. Southwest Texas State University, soon to be Texas State University-San Marcos, is certainly not deserving of its reputation of a party-school. Unfortunately, the name change is the only way to shake this stigma/image that has been following it around for years. It is an institution of higher learning, and deserves to be taken seriously. It is in serious need of both a heart and a soul. Alumni apathy runs rampant at SWT. If this were not the case, do you honestly think that the alumni would have let this name change go through? Mark my words, within the next 20 years or so (maybe sooner) it will be absorbed into the Texas A&M System, unfortunately. Not that there is a single thing wrong with Texas A&M, it is a fantastic school with proud heritage rich in tradition. SWTSU is equally as good (from an academic standpoint), it just lacks the aforementioned heart and soul. Maybe, someday, it will achieve this, too.

Respectfully,
2001 SWT AlumGO BOBCATS!!
