Ever heard of the phrase: "Don't judge a book by its cover"?
Well, that is exactly what I did when I chose TLU. I saw the website and I was sold. Christian learning...Jesus believing, spritual student body...small class, BIG difference. Wow! Sounds awesome. It is close to SA, Austin, etc. Tubing in San Marcos! Well, this was the school for me!!

NOT. This place is horrible. One lie...the classes are big! BIG! Lots of students in one class...so that is the first lie.Second...this school is TOTALLY liberal. Even the little chapel is liberal...it was horrible. Profs. are liberal...most of them. 90%. The town sucks...the students. Well, it reminds of high school. CLIQUES. Yes, cliques. Diversity? I love to read the boasting on the website. International students, diverse students. Nope. A few...the outsiders. If you are WHITE, SNOTY, and into drinking beer, then this is the place for you. I would't go here again. Oh,well.

Quite Bright
If you think you're going to a Christian school where Jesus' teachings abound, think again. The Provost lies, and when caught in his lies, he becomes arrogant and dismissive. The theology department is a debacle. Theology classes are mandatory, which is not the problem, if they were taught by decent people in a christian manner. Dr. Beck is a card carrying Socialist. And preaches a leftist agenda every day. It is mandatory for students to attend events that go against their core beliefs. He is unconcerned about their belief system, and demands respect for his own. He is the worst professor I have ever met. However, if you are a slacker, he's your best friend. Everyone gets a B, regardless of effort.

The conduct they let students get away with goes beyond the pale. This autumn, one of the fraternities had a kegger party on the chapel lawn. That's fine christian values, don't you think?

It is a pity there are these gaping flaws. The Chemistry professors are wonderful. They truly care about the students. The students success is their main objective. So if you can deal with your university being a total fraud. Turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the lack of christian conduct on the part of those who preach it. This could be your school.

I graduated from TLU in 2002. I spend 4 years there. I become a polic officer a year after I graduated. I have to thank TLU for that. I got so sick of the drug use on that campus. The people on campus were nuts for it. I was not planning on becoming a cop at all...maybe it was the dorm I lived in or the parties there at school, but I can understand being in a small town kids are more likely to get into drugs there...but I love my job as a cop. Thank you TLU! JUST SAY NO TLU! Drugs are for losers! Oh, if my son wanted to go to TLU I would say "heck, no!"...drug use is terrible there.
