I got my masters pretty quick because I found out right away that nobody was impressed that I was certified out of TLU. I'm now in a doctoral program, but am really leaning towards taking my degree and going in the corporate world. I found out that in the public school system they don't care where you got your degree...just as long as you're certified. I could have saved $1000's by just going to UTSA...my TLU degree wasn't useless, it just didn't help me any more than if I had graduated from UT/Brownsville. So if you want to be a teacher, save your money kiddos and go to a public school.

I DID NOT GRAD FROM TLU...I transferred to San Marcos. The history dept sucked big time at TLU. I was going to major in history but there just wasn't enough real challenging courses available. Dr. Milk was good...I liked the courses I took from him. Their was a Vietnam course taught at Randolph that was awesome. Other than that history was a dead end, so I transferred to Texas State. I did like the lady who taught geography...she was well versed in her field. There was some lady from Canada or Germany that took over the dept and it went downhill fast after that. The same guy that taught Vietnam for TLU was teaching at Texas St...I took about 3 courses from him and was blown away. Actually, I was blown away by all the courses at TSU. I was able to get my masters at TSU and now I'm in my 2nd year of the doctoral program at UT/Austin.

I actually was an education major before I decided to go to law school. I talked with the so called TLU "expert" on getting into law school and he gave me about 5 mountains to climb. He had never really practiced law and had been out of law school at least 40 years...everything he told me was totally out of date (which is typical at TLU). Then one semester I had to take a class at the off campus site of TLU at an air force base. All the older students told me to go talk to their advisor there at the base. Holy crap! That guy knew stuff that nobody else wants you to know. He had me test out on about 30 hours of stuff, take the LSAT, and I got into the law school I wanted...all in less than a year. And guess what...I'm now a real lawyer doing great. If I had listened to the "lawyers" at TLU I'd still be doing schoolwork.
