Not so bright
I must say that Texas Woman's University has changed much over the past four years since I have been here in a great way! We are getting a huge new science building built on the denton campus and a multi million dollar TWU Institute of Health Science Center. This school is known for Nursing, PT, and OT as well as turing out great doctors I am sure. I am a biology major and the courses vary in difficulty more upon what the teacher is wanting out of you than the material itself. There seems to be more teachers in the biology department pushing you with all kinds of crap that is due on a weekly to bi-weekly basis besides lecture tests. If you are looking for an easy college than don't go here. If you want to be challenged then come here! I can't say much about other non-science departments at TWU but the science departments rock. I guarantee you that because of TWU's inability to physically expand as opposed to it's neighbouring university expanding like crazy that it will only get harder and harder to get accepted into TWU which makes your degree stand out even more. Don't let the GPA, SATs, and ACT's entrance scores fool you because most places or books aren't up to date and they increase in higher competitive scores almost on a yearly base.

I read an article a very long time ago that covered the benefits of attending a women's college vs. co-ed. Therefore, it was between this and Mills College in California.

Texas Woman's University changed my life for the following reasons:

Gave me a voice. Gave me plenty of opportunities to show and express my ideas. Gave me opportunities for leadership. This led me to be responsible for my own choices. Whenever you go out into the real world, all you do are make choices. Choice after choice after choice. I feel TWU gave me a platform to help me realize that everything starts at the beginning. Every single thing is made up by someone. It all starts with an idea. I've heard this a million times, but TWU made me REALIZE it.

I feel like my confidence in the world has completely done a 180 because of TWU's approach, compared to the 'sit down, don't speak, listen to the teacher' previous learning experiences I had throughout education. SNORE!

TWU convinced me that I was just as able as any CEO to do anything. Anything, I just have to make choices and inform/educate myself.

I still have the connections I made here at this school.

The only weaknesses I would point out is not writing enough papers and/or familiarity, exposure to economics.

This is a VERY special school and everyday I spend in the real world, I look at a leader or CEO and realize this guy is making this stuff up even as he speaks. Before I went to TWU, I would never have been so confident and would have thought "this guy is better than me" or "I can't do what he's doing".

I highly recommend TWU. It completely and totally changed my life. I didn't accept it in the beginning, but by the time I left, I got it. I got what they were doing, and it's fantastic. Just let it happen.

This is a good school, the classes are smaller so you can feel more comfortable asking questions and getting involved. You can make friends with all of your professors and lab instructors. I am taking all science courses (4 of them) this semester and I have had to work very hard for straight A's. I am a bio major, chem minor. There is a very high rate of Chemistry majors from this school that do get into medical school, so that's a plus that I'm associated with that department. The statistics seem to say that it is easy to get in. It is. But depending on the department, you better be ready to think on your own if you want to be successful. Professors do not hand you your grades, you have to earn them. And in the end, I feel accomplished, even after my first semester here.

The social life is lacking a bit though (*listens to the dumb people on the floor above me bouncing around like a bunch of damn elephants*). But you can avoid that by commuting :D Most of my friends are commuters. They tend to be more mature. The dorms are full of freshman and sophomores. But don't be discouraged. The teachers are full of passion for what they do.

I'd recommend this school. It's affordable, and I feel that I am getting my money's worth.

The only draw back is that it is a smaller school, and scheduling is a bit difficult.
