The good thing about UD is that students are serious about their studies so it makes it pretty easy to be serious about your studies as well, you can always find someone in you class you can study with practically any night of the week. The classes are extremely challenging and the professors are brilliant. The professors tend to think the only class you have is theirs so they pile on an impossible amount of reading, your first semester you will drown but eventually you figure out how to prioritize. Students at UD are required to read more per year then students at Harvard, but just because you are "required" to read more does not make it completely possible to do all of the "required" reading. The students at UD are great. Although everyone is pretty much the same, especially politically, they are "accepting" of other viewpoints. Most students come from conservative upper middle class backgrounds and attended prestigious private schools their whole lives. Students tend to be pretty Conservative and practically all Republican so people get in arguments more over conservative principles than Democrat or Republican principles. The Catholic faith is very important to the students at UD but they are not in your face about it and if you are not Catholic you would feel perfectly at home. Although students study hard, they also like to party hard on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. If you are looking for a party you will always find one. Another great thing about UD is that the students are all pretty grounded so you will not find drugs at parties, just plenty of alcohol. UD is weird in that the students somehow manage to be very friendly, approachable, and down to earth while at the same time being arrogant, snooty, and closeminded. I think it simply boils down to they believe 100% they are right and while they respect others opinions they do not accept it as truth. A lot of it also comes from the "bubble" mentality. Most students who attend UD grew up around people who were just like them and then they go off to UD where it is the same type of people they grew up with, just from all from different places all over the country. It is no secret that UD is a bubble, students often joke about the "UD Bubble" and most students would be happy to stay in that "bubble" their entire lives and many do thanks to the strong UD alumni groups nationwide. Overall it is a great school, it is well worth your four years, and after going to UD you will have lifelong friends, not to mention you will be smarter than the average college grad when you graduate thanks to the strong and intense core curriculum. I transferred there from ATL, and though it took me a year to get used to it, I really ended up loving the place. It was more so the people that I met which made this school into a positive experience. Because of the size of the school, students tend to get to know each other and spend time together.
