Write a Review!  U NIVERSITY of Houston, founded in 1927, is a public institution. Programs
are offered through the Colleges of Architecture, Business Administration, Education,
Humanities and Fine Arts, Natural Science and Mathematics, Optometry, Pharmacy,
Social Sciences, and Technology; the Graduate School of Social Work;
the Cullen College of Engineering; the Hilton College of Hotel
and Restaurant Management; and the Bates College of Law. Its
550-acre campus is located in a residential area, three miles from downtown Houston. The University of Houston is a national
urban research university. In addition to providing full and part-time
academic programs for 34,334 students, UH is also a nationally
recognized doctoral degree granting, comprehensive research university. Research initiatives
match the strengths and needs of the nation's fourth largest
city, such as health, energy, environment, business, law, and education;
and UH sponsors more than 300 partnerships with city and
state entities. UH, the nation's most diverse research university,
is also home to the country's first educational television station.
