I would like to give you a background to start so that you can understand my frustration. This is my final year at UMHB. I am under the psychology department. I view the psychology professors as very lazy. They are not willing to help you even after you have emailed them for weeks and popped into their office. You?re probably thinking, ?Go to the department chair.? Well the department chair of psychology is an arrogant narcissistic man to state it lightly.
I am also a military veteran receiving the Post 911 GIbill and the bursar and VA are always making mistakes when it comes to me getting paid. The VA certifying official at the school is clueless and makes many mistakes.
The employees in the Bursars office are very rude and act like you?re an inconvenience to them. When the last time I checked this is a private institution and if it weren?t for us students attending they would not even have jobs.
The technology department employees are not very experienced. It took me going to them three times with the same email issue until it finally was fixed.
Fees are not refundable so if you sign up for a class with a fee and then drop they will not give you your money back. They charge many different fees so beware of budgeting for those extra fees.

For the price, I would have expected a stellar education in my degree field from UMHB. However, after entering the workforce, I realized that UMHB provided me with an extremely anemic education. The price at this university is simply outrageous compared to the education that one receives. Exceptions to this appear to be the nursing, education, and psychology departments. All others are overpriced and leave students ill-prepared.

I like this school... At least... I did. It's pretty and the students are nice and genuine, for the most part. There are a few brillian professors but the campus is too small to have any assortment. For almost all the classes with the exception of freshman level courses, there is only oneprofessor that offers the class at one time. So moat of your grade is getting along with the professor. While all u overworked have a few bad apples, UMHB has more than most. I'm almost done with my third year and I've probably had two great professors, three okay ki da blah, and 12 or 13 miserably dull, arrogant, unhelpful, rude professors (some combination of those words). A lot of professors make it impossible to get As so it's hard to transfer. And the u iveraity likes this- you lose your scholarship faster. Tution has gone up four to five thousand dollars a year since I started here. My scholarship hasn't gone up at all.
