Wow after nearly two years of school I can honestly say that I have never had such a culture shock.

There are just certain things that one must accept when matriculating into public school. The impersonality of 500 kid classes, multiple choice test after multiple choice test, and a certain smell laziness thats contaminates everything.

I major in both Art and Creative writing (I'm screwed haha) with a minor in music. On one hand, my majors and minor have allowed me to be creative and express myself without boundaries. Yet, I feel lost now that I look back on the current events going on my life.

Making friends here is hard. I know it sounds juvenile, but I have yet to really form lasting relationships with people. Partially because on ten percent of the school lives on campus, but I believe it has to more so with the culture. Everyone here is just so cliquey that it just makes life more difficult.

I hate the core with a passion. It comprises 42 credits of your education which is basically a year and a half of college. It would not be so bad if the courses weren't high school 2.0 with some mofo "lecturer" ( what the hell does that even mean?)who doesn't even have a PHD.

Then after the clusterfuck that is the core, one has to go about choosing a major. The largest college is COlFA but the business school is catching up quick (must be the economy).

Classes are painfully easy. Too easy to be called college courses. Not to mention the fact that most students start off in remedial math and writing! This is an atrocity! How the hell can America survive if its inhabitants cannot even use basic algebra and argumentative writing!?

Housing is too good to be true. We are getting new off campus houses. Literally two story houses that foster even more commuter status student life.

I am at a crossroads with this school. Either way, I am graduating from here. I just feel let down and am considering not going to grad school at all.

If you have to go here and have half a brain please take as many upper division, honors, independent study classes as possible!

Truthfully this school sucks. The faculty members are nice, but all of the other workers are rude. The Roadrunner Cafe is a rip off. It is a huge bureaucracy around here. All UTSA is, is a overpriced community college. I can't wait to transfer to a real university.

I wouldn't waste my money at this university again. Most of the professors are great, but social activities and extracurriculars are non-existant. People at this school tend to stay in cliques, and with the student population reaching almost 30,000, it is often hard to find previous friends the next semester.
