I only wish I had gone there for my entire undergraduate degree! When I transfered I lost a few hours - some of the classes I had taken were under a different name and it was a struggle to get UIW to accept them, but they DID eventually take all of my high-grade hours. The majority of the professors are friendly, helpful, intelligent, and personable. I've only had a couple professors I didn't like, and it was primarily because they were disorganized. The food has a bad rap here, but it must have improved a lot because I don't have any problems with it at all. I live off-campus so I don't have any experience with the meal plans, but there's always a good selection of relatively healthy food, and there are 3 little cafes as well as the main cafeteria, so you don't have to trek across the entire campus to get your food. When I first started at UIW the parking was TERRIBLE, but they have just opened up a brand-new parking garage which ALWAYS has empty spaces, and there are multiple shuttles running up and down the hill all day so you don't have to walk miles, and the wait is never long. Just make sure you give yourself about 20 minutes before class starts so you can walk from the drop-off point to the classrooms. Education Quality: A+, Social Life: B+ Have a Question? The professors are certainly not there for the prestige. They are they because they truly enjoy and want to teach. They want you to do well, and to succeed. Most of the professors will go above and beyond to help you because they are so dedicated. They are all extremely knowledgeable and scholarly, and they want to share that with you. If you want to learn more about something from class, or want to know about something they specialize in they are delighted to teach you. They are even happy to see you if you just stop by their office to say hi. As long as you wish to learn, they will do everything they can to teach you. Sometimes its easy to be lazy and do the bare minimum, but with many of the profs learning becomes so much fun and so interesting that you actually enjoy going to class. Like Dr. Greenberg in Comm Arts is so awesome you don't want class to end. The administration on the other hand seems pretty clueless. So sometimes you have to cut through a lot of red tape. The students are all very nice and friendly...easy to get along with. The worst thing I can think to say about the school is that the parking situation is terribke.
