All they seem to care about are their own problems and difficulties and are inconsiderate of student individual needs. Being young is also a crime in graduate school. Older students and professors discriminate you based on your age and yet pretend that they are "advocating" for the good of human beings. If the College of Education is supposedly "ideal" and a "role model" for other universities, then American college educational system is a huge failure. I have lost all my respect for people who are in so-called "high status," and I believe none of these professors should be teaching. All they do is preach but don't practice. This is becoming almost unbearable, and, if it weren't for the fact that I have one semester left before graduation, I would leave Austin and never come back. I thought education was supposed to be about support, teamwork, and learning. Well, I learned something all right...I learned that people are not to be trusted and that you better learn how to smile at people you hate with all your heart because people here don't now the meaning of the word friendship and community (though of course there are a FEW exceptions). My advice: Come here, finish fast, and get the heck out!! | | Nov 15 2011 | Education

This school has been amazing! Both my parents went here and my dad graduated and became a very successful lawyer with a very high, (i think like 94%) success rate. My mom became a sergeon at the Downtown Austin Hospital. My brothers and sisters plan on going here too. Of all the people here, i think about only 5-10% of them are just here to goof around, an also about 5-10% of them are mean and snooty. The other 95-90% of students are kind, frienly, and are willing to help. As far as the dorms go, I dont know because i have my own apartment. But its convenient because my classes are only about 1/8 away from my apartment and my job is only 1/4 of a mile. Sometimes i dont even drive to school because its so close i walk. THe surrounding areas are absolutely gorgeous! Austin: The BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!! SO MUCH TO DO!!!!! MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!!! NIGHTLIFE!!!! MOST IMPORTANT: GOOOOOOO LONGHORNS | | Dec 14 2009 | Music - Composition/Theory

| | | UT has a great mechanical engineering grad. school as evident by its top 10 ranking (which will move up in the coming years). They fund better than any school I was accepted to including Michigan, Stanford, and Duke. At these other schools, I was given enough just to live, but here at UT I actually have some spending money. Additionally, the school is more catered to grad. students then to undergraduate students and it isn't that competitive despite being prestigious and having well-known faculty (my advisor is from CAL-Berkeley). My research project is incredible and much more interesting then the projects available at the other institutions I was accepted to. The best thing about UT is that it is in the heart of Austin. Grad students are all 21 (so we can drink) so UT is the #1 social school in the country in my opinion. The nightlife is ridiculously unbelievable. If you're not careful, it would be easy to flunk out of grad school. The girls in Austin are the hottest in the nation, without question (this should convince you alone that should come here if your male). If you come to grad. school as a single person like most are (if not married), this is the school to go to because there are so many places here to meet people. | | Jan 18 2004 | Mechanical Engineering | | |
