The campus is pretty and the faculty can be reachable and sometimes helpful; however, this place has zero social life and if you aren't front he surrounding area you won't fit in. The school is a commuter school, and the campus is dead by 4 pm. Many students are older and have families or other obligations, so there is no student life. The students that are younger are close minded and already have a clique of friends, they are very hard to approach. If you don't speak spanish or if you aren't from the surrounding area, you will have a difficult time here. I strongly recommend anyone who wants the traditional college experience to not go here. I've only been here for a semester and I hated it the entire time. Unless you are an athlete and put in the nicer dorms, you will be dormed with only international students who stay in their groups and don't speak english.

This is an AWFUL school. Ends up as expensive as any other. There are a bunch of hidden fees everywhere. Also, ''mediocre professors'' is being fair. Never had such a bad college experience in my life. I came here as an international student from Europe and the program in UTEP was a joke. If you want to earn a degree and not learn a single thing or pass without any kind of effort this is your place. The real world will take care of you, don't worry. EVERYONE cheats, even the professors who bring material they didn't even had to put effort on producing. And not talking about the dirty city... safest city in the world? LMAO yeah of course, if something has to happen they will take care of it in Juarez which you can actually see pretty well from UTEP as is not even half a mile away. I've never seen so many weirdos as well as soo many low class people together. The education level is so low in every aspect. RUDEST people I've met. STAY AWAY

There is too much negativity in this city in general. You want yourself or son to grow as a person and not be held back.
