Super Brilliant
Positives:
State of the art premed program. UTD is the place to go whether you want to be an engineer, scientist, or a doctor. It's like the MIT of Texas. UTD also has a nice, liberal atmosphere which combines the size of a private college with a science-driven focus. Lots of smart, nerdy students as well. Furthermore, the city of Richardson is very wealthy, and there are so many restaurants to eat within a bike ride or a 4-10 minute driving distance. Only 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, where the nightlife is AMAZING.

Negatives:
One of the big reasons many students drop out after the first year is their primary desire to attend UT Austin. There is also a perceived lack of social life as well, especially because the campus police take their jobs VERY SERIOUSLY (which can be a positive, depending on how you think of cops). Furthermore, it is the most expensive public university in Texas, so don't come to UTD unless you had a scholarship, or really want to get into medical school. I think the courses can be too demanding, even though I have a 4.00 GPA. The grading system is designed to ruin you (A-minuses do NOT count as a 4.0). The atmosphere can be unnecessarily competitive, and there is too much pressure to study, since that's what everybody here likes to do anyway.
Education Quality: A+, Social Life: C+

My experience at UTD was great and really helped to achieve my career goals. I owe a lot of my sucess to UTD. As an aside, its UT-Dallas, not UT-Richardson. This is the most selective public undergraduate program in the Southwestern US and this site can't even get the name of the school correct!? I hope this error is corrected accordingly. You would think someone would have either caught this or had done some research or something. Pathetic. :(

Bright
UTD is not a bad school at all; it's academically challenging and quickly growing. It really recieves a terrible reputation from apathetic students who want parties handed to them on a plate. My freshman year shaped the rest of my collegiate lifestyle. I thought I would be moving but three years later, I'm about to graduate in December. It was very different from traditional college that my friends at bigger schools were having but I wouldn't have it any other way. Once I made a solid group of friends, it was hard to not become "popular" quickly. Parties were fun and when I turned 21, I could really enjoy Dallas even more.
Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Campus Aesthetics: D+
