Since Utah is a conservative state, people might think the same about University of Utah but it actually isn't. Very open minded people. Diversity at the U is wonderful!! That's the best part of it. It just got into PAC-12 which is believed to be the future "Ivy league" of the west. It's global reputation is definitely increasing exponentially so that is a plus. However, getting back to my first comment, the conservatism in some people kind of gets to you once in a while when you're not on-campus so that could be a possible problem. Other than that, it's a great place!

It's big, it's beautiful, and it's cold a lot of the year. Many introductory classes are very large but most professors are superb lecturers so they still get the point across to large classes.

Good school! But the staffs in some departments aren’t really nice. The students that work on campus are really friendly; the other part of the staff (excluding the teachers) can be a little mean and unhelpful sometimes.

Teachers are really helpful, even if the classes are huge. Thankfully, all my teachers are great, they know their thing and they even have a sense of humor, so you learn in a kind of funny and comfortable environment.

Salt Lake City is a gorgeous city, very clean and it isn't too overcrowded here.
The school spirit is awesome! The Utes love their thing.
I love the Marriott library and the bookstore. The library has many helpful resources and the bookstore is pretty cool :)

The food is... umm, well, it could have been worse! They don't have much food variety at the Heritage Center. There's also the Union, you can get food there too, but I think they close earlier.

The dorms are really nice, clean, and way bigger than some other dorms I've seen in some other schools. The housing buildings are beautiful. It's really quiet here; you won't hear a noise (unless you have the "luck" to have a crazy roommate or neighbors).

It's a good school after all... and if the Mormon culture is a big concern to some people, well, don't believe everything you read, there aren't many Mormons in SLC and there aren't many Mormons at the U (well, there are way less Mormons than I expected, considering that I'm a Mormon myself and that I came from a state and town with very few of them). It’s not like they will try to convert you or something, you won’t even know they’re Mormon until they say it, and they’re usually really nice… and sometimes a non Mormon is nicer than the Mormon standing next to them.

If you're Mormon, the U is great for you because of the Institute of religion and the huge student wards. You have many institute classes to choose from, and you can adjust the classes to your schedule pretty well. The student wards make many activities. Students ward are huge (at least for me, since I came from a really small branch) but people are very friendly.

Diversity? Well, most of students are white, and then there are Asians and then African Americans. I haven't seen many Hispanics here. The U is awesome and has a gorgeous campus surrounded by mountains. Transportation is not a huge issue, eve though it's a really large campus, the shuffle busses work pretty good! If you want to go out of campus then there is the Trax (train) that takes you to downtown and to the mall. Now, if you'd like to go to other cities, perhaps you should have a car.
