I had a great start to my acceleratedJun 07 2015Business - Management and Administration
I had a great start to my accelerated program with Averett, however, I had an adviser who did not explain to me fully the criteria when switching from a classroom based program to the online program. Not only did I do horrible, I was never told my adviser left Averett. My new adviser never reached out to me and I was unable to get a hold of her. The professors for Economics and Financial Management did not provide any insights in the course. The syllabus' for each course were wrong and neither professor realized it. The final project in Financial Management was not clear and I ultimately failed the course. I sent numerous email questions to the professor with no response or a response of "read the text book." I would recommend taking this program in the classroom, do not take the online program. You receive no guidance and the professors are rude and make you feel like an idiot.
The accelerated MBA program is a jokeFeb 22 2014Business - Management and Administration
The accelerated MBA program is a joke. You take a full course in 6 weeks. While I didn't think I'd learn as much as in a traditional semester format, I didn't think the education here would be as bad as it was. I ended up dropping the program after 3 classes. While I had straight A's, I expected more expertise from the professors and a higher quality program. The professors lacked instructional effectiveness and the price tag for each class was outrageous. If you are planning on grad school, do it right. Go somewhere else
The instructors are hit and missJul 28 2012Business - Management and Administration
The instructors are hit and miss. One professor will be completely involved, helpful, etc. and the next can be completely lost in the sauce. One stats professor would turn to the board, start writing, pause and say "no..wait..." which absolutely wrecked the class.

One faculty member in particular - Nancy Atkins - was a disaster. I believe she said her undergrad work was in African Studies. When a student said he grew up in Rwanda and her comment was "Hmmmm...I've never been there..." I should have known to get up and walk out. That's correct, Dr. Atkins, you probably haven't been to Rwanda, what with all the genocide, but I'm glad it didn't ring a bell in that little head of yours. If you need to buy a degree, you should go to Averett. Other than that, avoid.
