AMU requires an extreme level of self dicipline and motivation in order to complete, this is absolutely not a diploma mill and anyone entering this institution with that belief of expectation will quickly realize otherwise.

American Military University has a lot going for it. The classes start every month, and the online environment is great for learning. Furthermore the university offers several research resources which are invaluable for learning and study.
The only negative is the fact that a lot of the coursework is easy; however, almost all courses require a "final" research paper between 10 and 12 pages. The professors are hit and miss. I have had a few which have far exceeded my expectations, while others are merely collecting a paycheck.I just want to point out that you get out of something what you put into it. Nothing is more true at AMU. The resources are available for use and to assist in learning facilitation. On the other hand, if you want to squeak by with the bare minimum you can still get a degree here.

The financial aid department is useless, uncommunicative, and shady. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with this department as they actually withhold my money until it is too late to use, then tell me it has to used in the next 8 weeks.
The instructors never post classes the same way. You have to learn how each instructor thinks they should use the online classroom. Some post assignments under quizes, some post all work in the syllabus, some post it in announcements. This is typical online school issues, but it is worse with AMU.
