 | Quite Bright | I'm writing a 100% honest review during my time at Bridgewater College. After the first month I came to the conclusion that Bridgewater College has the least diverse student body around Virginia. Coming from a prestigious boarding school, my high school years were filled interacting with international students from china, korea, kazakhstan, ukraine, etc. My high school had/has such a talented student body with those excelling in the arts as well as athletics. The move-in weekend at Bridgewater I was able to explore my dorm and saw numerous students dressing up in full cowboy outfits, boots and hats, for a night on the 'town' I guess. I didn't mind this, until I realized 80 percent of the school owns camouflage hunting gear and of that 80 percent, all of them are from the local town of 'Bridgewater, Virginia'. The ONLY real international student I met was from Lebanon and was an extremely bright student, far exceeding a majority of Bridgewater Students. Athletics are a complete JOKE. The basketball freshman act like they're the Kobe Bryant of College. My high school produced top tier basketball players who sign with schools like Kansas and Maryland, and these high school senior players would EASILY crush Bridgewater College's senior players. They're an excuse for a team. Every team at Bridgewater is an excuse for a team. Football...don't even get me started. Long story short, they're at Bridgewater playing because they are not Division 1 quality. Enough said. The business majors are a joke. A majority of them have no idea what business even is, which would explain why 80% of my white southern country business class literally failed exam after exam after exam. This is a true fact. I saw them complain of their scores ranging from 40% to a whopping 20% during the first semester. Unlike them, I was more than prepared for business from high school. During PDP (Personal Development Program, one of the most pointless classes which is a credit that DOES NOT transfer) the professor was great at bringing up controversial subjects to debate on, such as legalization of marijuana, abortion, and religion. But the downside is that you cannot truly have a debate on these subjects when almost the entire class is extremely religious southern white people who will never even try marijuana let alone question the history of religion. I admit, I applied quickly and toured to Bridgewater and after the first visit it was a small campus and reminded me of my boarding school. I thought I would be content at this school but I was wrong. Would you like to wake up and walk to class at 7:50am only to find out the entire campus smells like COW SHIT for hours because the surroundings are all farm land? College is truly what you make it. So with that said, don't make the mistake of having to make Bridgewater your dream school when it's not. There are plenty of other colleges, just please do not go here. It's true when they said over half the freshman class transfers out as soon as they can. | Faculty Accessibility: B, Social Life: F | | | |

| | Super Brilliant | I transferred from this place after one term. I was not alone, over 50% of students will transfer/dropout in the first 2 years. About 30 kids from my small freshman dorm (Dillon Hall) left after the first semester. Almost everyone hates it at Bridgewater. The food is beyond awful, there are very few healthy options, or variety of food choices at all, and everything (including off campus resturants) closes around 11 at night even on weekends. The RA's are extremely strict, which forces anyone looking for a fun time on the weekends to go to JMU. The campus empties out on weekends, everyone goes home just to escape this place. I didn't have that option unfortunately because I was an out-of-state student with no car. If you do not bring a car you will be trapped, because everything you need can only be reached by car. The professors treat students like they are public high schoolers, giving loads of busy work and checking it every class. That is not what college should be like. The school organized events are terrible and poorly attended. You have to go to mandatory "convos," which is 2-3 hours of sitting in a theater listening to some boring old guy talk, you need 7 of these every semester, and you also must do 10 hours of community service every semester. The admissions staff will tell you about the "BC Community" they're liars, no such thing exists. The majority of the school consists of poorly educated country folk who are thrilled just to be in college. I was on the football team and still was bored out of my mind, there is no way to escape the boredom of this place. The student support for athletics is terrible and gets worse as the season goes on, they are complete fair weather fans, more locals come to the games than students. I would not recommend this school to anyone who is not a white person from the deep south who enjoys doing nothing on the weekends . I struggled through one semester and transferred, and now that I'm at a real college, Bridgewater seems even worse. Please do your research better than I did, so you don't waste your fall semester freshman year like I did. If you like "colleges" that act like public high schools, go to Bridgewater. If you want a real college experience, there are plenty of similar sized colleges that offer one, just stay as far away from Bridgewater as possible. | Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Super Brilliant | If you like small schools with nothing to do, come here. If not, than Bridgewater is not the place for you. I played a sport and was still bored out of my mind and I didn't feel like driving 15 mins to JMU to every time I wanted to party. There is nothing in town, you have to drive to Harrisonburg anytime you need anything. There are very limited food options on campus, and the KCC (Kline Campus Center) is almost always terrible. If you don't have a car, you are trapped. I felt misled and lied to by the admissions staff about the Bridgewater community. I will be transferring far away from here as soon as I can. I made a terrible decision when I decided to come to Bridgewater College, do your research more carefully, and you wont waste a term of your college career like I did. | Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Useful Schoolwork: F | | | |
