 | Super Brilliant | William and Mary is perfect for anyone who, like me, wanted to have a small college community where you could have one on one contact with your professors, and a true sense of community pride. My experience at William and Mary has been filled with wonderful professors, fascinating classes and of course wonderful students who have a real passion for learning. Especially in my major (English) there is a real love of knowledge for knowledge's sake: no competition, dishonesty or discontent. If you are interested in being more than just a number at a big university, but also interested in attending a public university that has high admission and academic standards, William and Mary is that school. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: B- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | William and Mary is an incredibly unique place in that it is a small, liberal arts school that is publicly supported. Class sizes are incredibly small and professors are highly accessible- not only in upper level 'in major' classes, but in some intro seminars as well. Some of my professors have become my best friends, and this does not make me unusual. Don't come to William and Mary if having a raving bar scene is important to you, because you'll be sorely disappointed. Don't come to William and Mary if you're a slacker, because I had to study all the time here to get good grades, and the competition is fierce. Williamsburg may not be a jumping college town, but the campus and the surrounding area could not be more beautiful. The school provided me with a fantastic education at a relatively inexpensive cost, and I would recommend this school in a heartbeat, although admittedly, the atmosphere here is not for everyone. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Social Life: C- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | W&M helped me by having a reputation for serious students and low-to-no grade inflation. This definitely got me in the door for my first job, and has continued to cause persons to hold me in high esteem (sometimes I laugh at how they PRESUME I'm hard-working and smart just because I got into W&M). My work as an editor and later as section chief/publisher in a government setting has required diligence, knowledge, and research skills that I obtained at W&M---or, even more important, learned HOW to obtain. However, I wish that I had played a bit more at W&M and had tried out lots of different activities besides those aimed at a career in publishing. W&M students are serious scholars, but too many take themselves and their situations too seriously and don't do enough experimentation or have enough fun. I don't want the school to become another silly party place like UVa, but would like to see it become a bit more fun than it was and presumably still is. | Starting Job: Managing Editor for several associations, Preparedness: B+, Reputation: A | | |
