 | Quite Bright | | Every University is going to have is pluses and minuses, and a majority of the people on websites like this are going to be people complaining. Keep that in mind. Anyway, Mason is great. It was my fifth choice out of five. Funny enough, I got into all five, and chose this one anyway, never having visited. Can't explain why I did that. I was skeptical at first due to that fact that there are significantly less people on campus on the weekends, but as soon as Spring hit, I realized Mason is a community that hates the cold. There are still tons of things to do all the time at Mason; the only problem is that the students as a whole would rather complain about the events then attend them. I have tons of fun at campus events, but then again, I'm not really a greek type. I love parties, just not greek. Personal opinions. BUT, the greek life here is pretty decent, it's just all off-campus and the frat boys/girls drive you to and from (and are NOT allowed to drink while driving. they will get the shit beat out of them). Definitely a great school if you're avoiding greek life, but also a good one if you enjoy greek life. You will have to go slightly out of your way for it though. It's the kind of campus where you want to get involved in order to get to know as many people as possible. I mean, I know tons of people and am never bored. People here are friendly as fuck, I swear. Which was surprising to me, since I hate Northern Virginia and feel that it is rich a snooty. Mason does not fit that standard. Mason is friendly. Dining is good, housing and parking is a hassle but that is only because 30,000 students go here. derp derp of course there's a lot of cars. You'll always have a place to park, it just might not be as close as you were hoping. That's life. UHmmmmmmm yeah. I like Mason. I would recommend it. Do I sometimes feel like I sold myself short? At first, yes. I could have gotten into an Ivy League. Yeah, I'm THAT student. But money and priorities. Dat money doe. But seriously, English here is rigorous. Great professors, great opportunities, tons of concentrations and minor options. Also studying IT. I love it. The Ged Ed IT 103 was awful, but once you get past that, it's great. One thing I will say, DO NOT TAKE CORNERSTONES. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're good. If you have been invited into Cornerstones, just don't do it. I regret that semester so much. #extrasemesterproblems | Friendliness: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: A- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | I transferred here from George Washington University. Comparatively, GMU's Accounting faculty and students are much brighter than my ex-schoolmates in GW. I am very glad that I transferred here, students are nice&humble, not arrogant like the GW students (who always look down on and talk bad about other universities such as UMD & American). In fact, I actually transferred to Mason before GWU got unranked on USNEWS because of false data reporting!Affordable tuition and high quality of Education. Accounting is much much harder in Mason than GW, but you are going to learn more here. In Accounting field, if you don't have the actual knowledge, 4.0 GPA really doesn't matter. ACCT361 and ACCT332 are the most challenging courses in the program, be prepared. | Useful Schoolwork: A+, Faculty Accessibility: A- | | | |

| | Quite Bright | People that complain about Mason are those that did not make the most of their experience. Because Mason is a state school, it is huge. What thus forms are two general groups of people that clump together; the intellectuals and the retards. Mason has smart people. I got a good education, great job and am happy about having attended. Only downside: the university teaches you everything you academically have to know about a subject but fails to show you how to get a job. The career services department is bad and does not prepare students. So when you compete against people from UVA and VTech, you will have to fail a couple time, learn from your mistakes and then succeed. The oppertunities are definately still there for. For example, all big 4 accounting firms recruit here. | Education Quality: A, Social Life: B | | | |
