 | Quite Bright | George Mason Grad School is a JOKE! All you are doing is paying a LOT of money to get horrible grades from profs that have no idea how to teach. The bookstore is a huge rip-off, too. I had a tutor last semester, who was a PhD student in my major. Even they couldn't figure out the homework. And the tests that we were given, were completely insane and graded way too tough. If you are a prof and half your class is failing, you have to consider that YOU might be the problem! | | Bright | I was really excited when I first transferred to.Mason. I quickly learned and.changed.my opinion. the teachers are very unfair with grading and.how they teach the class. They barely give out study guides for tests and a lot of the things on the test were not covered in class. I feel like its sad that majority of.my biology and chemistry classes had class averages of 40% on exams. Yes there is tutoring but its usually one or two tutors and 30+ students. I study my ass off all the time and still am not happy with.my.grades. I decided to transfer after this semester. I can graduate earlier at a different school instead of staying here and always learning a new class I need.for.my degree and/or they changed certain requirements. Sadly everyone I know that goes to this school is.miserable. People go.to.school to further there education and want to learn, not pray to God everytime a test comes around that the teacher curves it enough for you to pass with a C in the class. | Collaboration/Competitive: A, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | Every University is going to have is pluses and minuses, and a majority of the people on websites like this are going to be people complaining. Keep that in mind. Anyway, Mason is great. It was my fifth choice out of five. Funny enough, I got into all five, and chose this one anyway, never having visited. Can't explain why I did that. I was skeptical at first due to that fact that there are significantly less people on campus on the weekends, but as soon as Spring hit, I realized Mason is a community that hates the cold. There are still tons of things to do all the time at Mason; the only problem is that the students as a whole would rather complain about the events then attend them. I have tons of fun at campus events, but then again, I'm not really a greek type. I love parties, just not greek. Personal opinions. BUT, the greek life here is pretty decent, it's just all off-campus and the frat boys/girls drive you to and from (and are NOT allowed to drink while driving. they will get the shit beat out of them). Definitely a great school if you're avoiding greek life, but also a good one if you enjoy greek life. You will have to go slightly out of your way for it though. It's the kind of campus where you want to get involved in order to get to know as many people as possible. I mean, I know tons of people and am never bored. People here are friendly as fuck, I swear. Which was surprising to me, since I hate Northern Virginia and feel that it is rich a snooty. Mason does not fit that standard. Mason is friendly. Dining is good, housing and parking is a hassle but that is only because 30,000 students go here. derp derp of course there's a lot of cars. You'll always have a place to park, it just might not be as close as you were hoping. That's life. UHmmmmmmm yeah. I like Mason. I would recommend it. Do I sometimes feel like I sold myself short? At first, yes. I could have gotten into an Ivy League. Yeah, I'm THAT student. But money and priorities. Dat money doe. But seriously, English here is rigorous. Great professors, great opportunities, tons of concentrations and minor options. Also studying IT. I love it. The Ged Ed IT 103 was awful, but once you get past that, it's great. One thing I will say, DO NOT TAKE CORNERSTONES. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're good. If you have been invited into Cornerstones, just don't do it. I regret that semester so much. #extrasemesterproblems | Friendliness: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: A- | | | |
