I am finishing my GMU first semester experience in a week. This was truly the best 18 weeks of my life. It might be because I am not from the largest county or the best place in the world but GMU manages to balance everything I want. Yea, Gen Eds are boring and some of my music classes are really challenging and some of the teachers make you feel like a piece of crap, but it all is like the real world. Yes things will be easy, some hard, and people are going to talk down to you. Yes it does rain alot here, but it's been a rainy year. Sometimes this college isn't right for people, but for me it definitely was. The cops here are really strict in the Park (freshman housing) and I found that out first hand getting a judicial. But the whole system was a joke after that...they threaten bad things but then all you have to do is attend a course or make a bulliten board. Things here in the social aspect are pretty awesome. You can go clubbing, partying, out to the movies, and shopping. There is so much to do on the weekends. And yes, alot of people don't like the fact that on the weekends there is like nobody here...but i freaken love that. You don't have to wait in lines...you can go and study somewhere without a million people being there too. Honestly I love it! That's all I can think of but it really has been an amazing experience.

George Mason was my top pick in schools and I stand by it. The Campus is great, The food is fantastic and the professors are there to help. Despite being the largest school in VA my classes have not exceeded 25. Dorms, events and clubs allow you to meet with like minded student. The campus has everything. Its basically a micro-city that is condensed into the heart of fairfax. Limited housing though but there are great apartments in fairfax Buildings are modern and a bit drab but the interweaving woods, creeks and Mason pond give it a welcoming look. The shuttle system is fantastic! Mason to Metro allows you to visit DC's clubs on friday nights. Big greek life on campus. If your into joining a sorority or fraternity mason provides. Frat parties here are incredible and have shuttle services (pledges). Absolutely no need to worry about safety. There is a full fledge police force as well as student "Police Cadets." Mason offers constant internships opportunities! Im a history major and I get probably 7 emails a week containing History based employment or internship info. There are always fun events. The Patriot Center (our b-ball stadium) is big enough to host acts such as Keisha, LMFAO, Rise against and Sound garden (past performers). Wish there was a football program but patriots are an up and coming NCAA basketball team. lots of school spirit at this school. Students seem focused but not stressed. All in all It's laid back but still a great working environment.
Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Scholastic Success: C+
