Not so bright
Ugh! I know I shouldn't reply to other reviews, but there are a few negative reviews on this site that are obviously posted from JMU students. One reviewer wrote that "there is absolutely nothing to do on campus. That was a blessing for me though, because I spent virtually all my time studying and therefore got a 4.0... which made it easier to transfer out of that hellhole." This is the same review that was posted on JMU's site! This comment is meant for JMU and not Mason! So please take my advice, GMU is a terrific school. I have two degrees in English (BA and MA). Professors are respected throughout the academic community--outside of Mason--and are leading minds in their disciplines. I am posting this reply to warn students that some negative comments are coming from students who DON'T attend Mason.

Quite Bright
First off, I just want to say I love President's park and how everything seems so accessible. I'm not exactly in a sorority, but i've had no trouble making friends and putting myself out there to meet new people. There's plenty of friendly people here, you just have to take the initiative. The thing i really don't like is that there really is not that much to do on the weekends. Many of my friends will end up going home for the weekend. I'm not saying every weekend is dead, but half the time there's really not much to do, unless you're of age. My best advice to you is to make a trip up there and walk around, just to experience it for yourself. It really is a love or hate relationship, depending on what you're into. Personally, I love the campus and the people yet if you're going to school to get wasted all the time, this isn't the place for you. Also, watch out for the campus police, they're determined.

To the people looking to apply to Mason, here’s what I have to say; I love Mason, when I decided to go here, I was really worried because I read all these bad reviews on students review from people who were clearly anti social and didn't know how to make friends. Now getting here, I realize it’s actually a really great school, they are always upgrading the campus in some way, the food has gotten a lot better just this year. The campus is really close together so it’s less than a 10-minute walk any where. You’ll hear that the cops are tough, and they kinda are, but it’s very easy to avoid them. Just don’t act like a drunken fool. It’s that easy. Now that I think about it, I could go out and party every single night if I really wanted to, I just don’t feel like destroying my liver. I don’t want to go on forever about how much fun I’m having at Mason, but please, disregard comments like that guys who wrote about getting into Radford( he's obviously not capable of human interaction) about Mason. He has nothing better to do than hate on Mason because he is a miserable loser.
