| | Quite Bright | | Hi! I have to agree with the poster below that the university has gotten a bad rap because there is a community college near it. I found out that a lot of the kids that went to that NOVA transferred to Virginia Tech, UVA and some of the other schools, but because Mason is located in northern va, they forget that kids also transfer to other schools like VT. I'd also have to agree that the courses are top notch and the university is under-rated. This school is getting ready to blow up over the next few years, so try to get in before they make the SAT score requirement extremely competitive. The university is in a "growth" stage like many of the older universities like VT and UVA were 20-30 years ago, which is why you want to hurry up and get in and get a good deal before everything skyrockets in price, especially since its close to the DC area. On another plus side, its only 15 min from DC where the nightlife is. It's perfect because fairfax is safe, no crime and nice environment. Then when you want to go to parties or explore museums or DC, its only 15 in away. Also, they have a lot of jobs and connections in the alumni base. You can do an part-time internship in tysons corner va or in the DC area to get experience and land a good job, vs having to go to a rural university and do internships over the summer and waste your summer.- sports is pretty fun too. Wear gold and go to the basketball games, run back to the dorm and celebrate when the games are over or go out with your friends. | Education Quality: A+, | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | GMU sucks. If you have dreams of professional success, go elsewhere. If your only goal in life is to obtain a meaningless government job as a robot, GMU is the perfect place. Students can largely be segregated into two groups: 1) Spoil, rich kids who are too stupid for their wise affluent parents to justify tuition elsewhere 2) Really bright hard-working individuals from humble backgrounds and cannot afford higher tuitions at quality schools Unfortunately, the administration's stated mission is to become the "college of Northern Virginia" and are striving to grow the student body by leaps-and-bounds. Thus, more and more student in category 1 are being admitted and the administration is not focused on quality education to attract more students from category 2. The School of Management is a joke. More students than not were struggling with the concept of net present value....AND these were finance majors in senior level finance courses.Do not choose GMU unless you have no ambitions. | Faculty Accessibility: A, Education Quality: F | | | |
