I love my Home by The Sea. It has its ups and downs- Hampton Run Around, Strict Rules, Ugly dorms. But its also has some of the brightest minds. I have met so many amzing people and have experienced some of the best days of my life. Life is totally a bubble there complete with little Hampton traditions from dresing up to go to class everyday to big brothers to walking on the waterfall to not walking across Ogden Circle or the Smiley Face. You definitely have to make your own fun. People who aren't involved will not have fun. organizations are many and easy to join, volunteer work is everywhere. Don't let the snooty people and administration get you down.

Not counting a few exceptions to the rule, Hampton University is not the best school for person from a modest background to get a degree to build for their future. Outside of the black community, most people do not know nor recognize Hampton University. Basically, the school serves as a holding pen for rich kids to get a college diploma so their parents can justify giving them a job. What I found after school is the curriculum is simply not designed to prepare you for life post-college and even with a degree you will be behind with comparable students. If you are a person that is looking to a college degree to prepare you for a rewarding career, I would suggest another school.

Not the best place to be if you really want to learn. Too many faculty members are more concerned with how the school looks to the outside world than concerned with individual students, both in academic and social arenas. If I had it to do over I never would have come here. I will not be staying for a second year!
