I love JMU.Quite BrightPolitical Science
I love JMU. I'm from PA and JMU is my new home. The girls are not just hot, but very friendly. But this school is an absolute bargain for in-staters. For people like me, out of state blows...I'm pickin up the tab for VA residents. The faculty here are very friendly, it's not just something that JMU tries to sell...they really are. They are always open to you visiting them during office hours and are willing to help. JMU also pushes you to the limits--you are forced to think differently, work harder, and really indulge yourself in the education. Being a Freshman, I have gotten myself very involved. JMU is a happening place. The students have a great spirit of helping, so you can always get help from someone. Bottom line: JMU is great and I would highly recommend it...the best school in the world!

Question
JMU is a great school.BrightEnglish
JMU is a great school. The motto of "all together one" covers it well. Its very much a community, and yet you still maintain your independence. Harrisonburg is called the friendly city for a reason. Sure its not the most happenind city in thw world but it has things going. And if you want to pary you can always find a party, but if thats not your thing then there is always someone else who feels the same way. I urge everyone to look into this GREAT school! GO DUKES!

Question
I think the gen-ed program at JMU isMusic Education
I think the gen-ed program at JMU is less than desirable. To add a positive to the negative, I believe it will provide me with a fairly good liberal arts background, but on the whole I think it's a waste of time. My major (music) is time consuming enough without having to worry about extraneous math, science and history classes, where all the teachers feel that their class is the most important one you're taking. Occasionally you'll find a teacher who realizes that people are only taking their class because they have to, and the class is structured accordingly. Others feel that you must be taking the class because you love the subject and need to do as much work as possible. If it weren't for gen-eds I could probably graduate in four years. As it is I will probably be here for 5 maybe 6.
