 | Quite Bright | I chose JTCC because I haven't lived in VA that long and needed a cheap school to finish up a couple of gen eds to get my teaching license. I haven't even started the classes yet and am already disappointed with the college as a whole. The best payment plan they would offer me on tuition was 60% with a $45 fee for the privelage of not having to pay all 100% at once, which is a joke. I might as well have not even had a payment plan, and will be eating beans and rice for the next two months to compensate for the hit to my finances. Three days before classes were scheduled to begin, I got a phone call telling me that one of the classes I needed was cancelled. I had signed up for online classes because going to school no longer works with my schedule. After they cancelled the class, I had the choice of either signing up for an on-campus class, or dragging out my education for another semester. I attended a community college in another state and liked it much better. I would recommend shopping around before committing to JTCC. I would only choose this school if it were close to home. That's about all it has going for it. | Surrounding City: B+, Education Quality: D- | | | |

| | Bright | I love this school. I say all the time I wish I could spend all 4 years here! There are usually an abundance of classes available in multiple time slots so except for one semester I have been able to get the classes when I need it. I have loved all my professors except for two. So out of two years, only having two less-than-stellar professors is great! The other professors have been wonderful and they really care about the students and helping them succeed. I do a mix of online and campus classes- I find either format is fine at this JTCC. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Social Life: C | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | I personally do not care for JTCC. It is a place that people go when they cannot afford to start out at a real university. JTCC is basically where all of the high school seniors from Thomas Dale go when they earn low GPAs. It feels like you never really left high school because you are surrounded by the same or similar people during the day time classes. The night classes are a bit different. They're filled mostly with adults who work full-time jobs and go to school part-time. If you are looking for a more mature group of classmates, the evening classes are for you. Most of the administrative faculty is rude, including the financial aid department, admissions, and the testing facility. The online professors are a complete waste of time and some are even unprofessional. The English professors decide they dislike you if you are able to write better than them. Take all your classes on campus, unless you absolutely are not able to. Because there are two campuses, at least thirty minutes apart, scheduling is a hassle. If you are an art student, plan on being on the Midlothian campus constantly. The Chester campus offers all the general classes, but Midlothian has all of the interesting ones, like German and Arabic.Bottom line- this school is for adults trying to complete their education or a place to spend your time until you can get into a real school. | Campus Maintenance: A, Collaboration/Competitive: F | | | |
