Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I love this University.BrightDesign Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc
I love this University. I went to a different "public" college last year. It was a good experience, but I wouldn't change my decision to go to this college for anything.

It drives me crazy when people complain about not knowing about the dress code, or the rules, or not knowing about how strong/weak the major they were going into was. Personally, if you don't take the time to research the program, visit the college, or read the rulebook before you decide to come, than that's just stupid. Yea, sure Liberty has rules. But through your entire life you're going to have rules. You have parents, teachers, and when you get a job.. your employer (believe it or not) is going to have rules! So get over it. :) Any college you go to is going to have its ups and its downs. Trust me. But if you spend your time focusing on the negative, you're not going to have a good college experience.

Liberty's campus is beautiful - minus the construction going on. (And speaking of construction, it is kind of a pain. The college tried to do too many things too fast.)The faculty is helpful, and from what I experienced so far, is very concerned about teaching you to think on your own - not just spew back facts and dates.

The spiritual atmosphere is awesome. Something lacking from both the Christian high school I attended, and even my church back home. It's amazing when you're around people your own age who want to be there, and want to worship and serve God. Its so powerful.

Well, all I can say is if you're considering Liberty - I'd say go. Even if its just for one year. Go for the experience. Its the best decision I ever made.

Question
As a transfer student out of PCC inQuite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
As a transfer student out of PCC in Florida, Liberty was a GIFT. The rules were absolutely more reasonable at LU. Do I think they could have let us dress down for classes - yes. In the grand scheme, though, I had a stellar work wardrobe when I was finished.

I can honestly say, that for a Christian college, there is a lot of value at Liberty. I feel my education was competitive, and I had no problems gaining admittance into the Master's program of my choice. In fact, I am now a college professor at JMU in Harrisonburg, VA.

Despite Jerry's media presence, I continue to be proud of my time at LU. I made some fantastic friends (that I still keep in touch with 12+ years post-graduation), and I'm in a dream job that is directly attributable to some of my instruction from the School of Business & Gov't faculty.

I even work with my former RA and her husband here at JMU. It's a small world...and we're doing just fine.

The accreditation status is definitely a plus. It helps for advanced degrees not to have to explain the merits of your previous degree program --and that's a luxury when compared to other Christian institutions. If I had it to do all over again, I'd absolutely re-do my time at LU. The university could indeed benefit from increased school spirit, less emphasis on losing sports programs, and more emphasis on academic, merit-based scholarships. But, these problems are not unique to LU. There will always be something to complain about wherever you go - work, school, or otherwise. Try to take it in stride. If you want a good education, you can get one anywhere - LU included. From the faculty side of the fence, I thrive on students that really want to learn...and don't come into a program with a sense of entitlement (i.e. I did my 4 years, now give me a degree). Quite frankly, if that sense of entitlement is pervasive in your way of thinking, by all means, go somewhere else. Otherwise you risk de-valuing my degree, and the degrees of those before and behind me.

Question
While it would be easy to focus onQuite BrightReligion/Religious
While it would be easy to focus on all of the negative things around here... curfew, lack of University-provided afterhour entertainment, dorm life... I choose to focus on all of the wonderful things, because when I think about it- all of those "negatives" are actually beneficial. I am a freshman. So far, every instance of being here at Liberty has been beyond a dream come true. Not only do I know I'm in a place where most importantly Christ is glorified, but because of that, the faculty and staff regard the students as more than just numbers. I've had hands-on experience with many of them, and I am far from dissatisfied. I am as critical as someone could be and I like to discover things for myself- it takes a lot to impress me. I am honest when I say I am pleased with many things, almost everything here. Of the things I'm not pleased: I would like to practice piano more, but because I'm not a music major or minor, the lab is off limits to me. I would like there to be some sort of secondary option concerning that.

As far as what I'm not pleased with, that's all I can think of right now.
Before someone attends there is something someone should do:

don't sign the statement confirming you've read the rules before you actually read them. This will take care of any misunderstanding about what is/ is not allowed

I'm looking forward to the rest of the year, partially because I know how I don't deserve to be here- I am abundantly blessed with grace.

I think that I have this horrible menu to select from the cafeteria...that isn't bad at all, considering there is good selection, and that not too far away there are starving children in the street who would love to eat off of our floors. I know also that they are still working on facilities and it's kind of a pain to get around... all the while remembering that I'm blessed to even have the existent facilities, and that this place is beautiful- it's a gift to be allowed to "get-around" in it freely.

What has happened to us when we continue to complain selfishly?
I did not come to Liberty to be lavished upon like a materialistic, post-modern princess. No one should, it won't happen. And that's good thing.
