Reading all these negative reviews. A lot of it has to do with the student body, when you enter into a community college you should expect a friendly social environmental. Well it's a community college where people go take classes and go immediately home what do you expect. Overall my experience here has been mediocre, there is no student body or social life to speak of here. As to professors, I used ratemyprofessor a lot to help find professors that taught well and help prepare me for future courses, etc. That helped tremendously without choosing the right professors, I could not see how people can graduate on time or do well because a lot professors are plain terrible, from reviews, and first hand experiences (1st semester when I didn't pay too much attention to what professors I had) In all I recommend you don't care about the social life, the resources are there, ratemyprofessor, and you can choose great professors at nvcc at a great price. Do well, transfer out, let it be a small stepping stone where you had to pay the price. Either you did not do well in high school, international student coming to United States (not really a price), or you couldn't afford a 4 year university. Don't worry about the social life, there are other ways to enjoy your time in Northern Virginia, nvcc is not a real college don't expect a vibrant social environment. The education is what matters, I believe NVCC provides great resources at your hand. All you gotta do is work hard and transfer out.

First of all: HIRE MORE ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF AND FACULTY! Else move the college to a fourth world country!

I really tried to get involved into the campus activities and social life at NOVA. Being friendly, polite and outgoing doesn't really help here, but oh being an ignorant fool totally does (if your main aim here is to just get whatever degree or credits and waste two years of your REAL life). The student activity center is a complete joke and all they care about is, well junk food and money.

Some professors (basic level biology class, I had to take them as my science electives) were pretty good, but the rest were complete airheads! They'd just read off slides and textbooks and give you super easy multiple choice questions , so it's easier for them to grade, and so that the majority of the students in class (who are between 30-40 years in age) just give them a good review online. (My economics teacher was nice though.)You have to really hate yourself to attend this school

This has got to be downright the worst university I have ever even HEARD of, let alone attended! NO ONE with a GPA of 2.5 and above deserves to go to NOVA! And if you're hoping to make a lot of friends; lol forget it (unless you work on campus, but most jobs are always taken due to severe cronyism at NOVA campuses )

Really stupid commuter students who don't study, don't socialize, don't contribute healthy to the environment/community, in any positive way; then there are pretentious teachers with the IQ of a shoebox and the worst administration ever. They are sooo slow and inefficient with their work (not to mention inconsiderate of other's problems) it's probably a crime paying them their salaries! It's just so impossible to stay happy here, especially if you don't know anyone form before. Again, don't do this to yourself, please go somewhere else, I bet anyone deserves better than this hellhole
