All the people who are from the surrounding area are stuck up and if you're not from around here, then no one wants to get to know you. Talk about racism, but I don't mean the white people. Blacks are UNBELIEVABLY racist down here. Especially the girls. They are the reason this school is so segregated. Everyone is so ignorant and follows what the crowd does and they never know what they're talking about. People get their throats slashed, robbed, shot, stabbed, etc on a weekly basis. And the education level is so low I can feel myself losing IQ points every time I go to class. Most of the teachers really don't care about you, but I have had a couple that have been really helpful. However this being my 3rd semester here I would have like to have had more helpful professors than I have. And lets not forget the dorms, if you want to get some serious illness from flesh eating bacteria used in nuclear weapons (no lie) or have a crazy bug infection, stay in Powhatan. Or Rogers and Gresham if you're a freshman. Basically, DON'T COME HERE! don't listen to their stupid bragging about the monorail that DOESN'T EVEN WORK! I have the feeling that the faculty wants you to succeed. Greek Life is awesome at this university. Not going to lie, but there is an exessive ghetto community enrolled and around Old Dominion University. But there are plenty of other groups of people. The campus has a balance atmosphere, where grades are as important as social life. The campus definitely has a southern feel to it. The campus aesthetics are getting better year by year. The new dorms are amazing for freshman. Cafeteria food could be better, but non-cafeteria food around campus is great. This one place under the Dominion House, a new dorm, called the POD has a great selection of food. The subs at the POD taste better than Quizznos, and Subway. I feel like I'm walking around at the Vibe awards here. There are way too many kids at this school who take up space and will never graduate. This school will accept anyone and I mean anyone. There's so many guys walking around sagging their pants, speaking ebonics, and acting like lil wayne. Seriously, who is going to hire these clowns. Most kids here have never left the tidewater area for an extended period of time which has made them bland and boring. The faculty and cafeteria staff is ghetto to the core. And have fun dodging traffic on hampton blvd. The academics are mediocore at best. So far this semester a house party was shot up a few blocks away from the school, multiple robberies have occured very close to the school, and I'm sure there will be more to come. Don't take my word for it though, once you're a student you will receive email notices in your student email account telling you about the latest crime around odu. ODU is not in a good envirement to learn. All of my teachers so far have been lame and unorganized. One of my teacher's lost a guy's test in my class. Typical odu. The cafeteria stays crowded and has short, inconvenient hours. Many girls and guys here care more about their outfits than being a decent student. Its almost like they come to school just to show off their new gear. Norfolk is an old, poor, dirty, noisy Naval town. Enjoy. Have a Question?
