The students of Roanoke are from all over the place, but the majority of students (and the most vocal) are from the Northeast. Many graduated from boarding schools and were too stupid or lazy to get into an Ivy League, so they decided to attend a school which costs about the same as an Ivy, but is fairly crappy.

As a result, most of the students are rude, egotistical, snobby, and selfish. Social life revolves around Greek life entirely. Students are obsessed with cliques, to the point that certain tables in the cafeteria are known as belonging to certain groups, especially of sorawwwrity and frat groups. Students involved in Greek life are strongly discouraged from interacting with the "normal" people. Alcohol poisoning is extremely common. The college administration is exceedingly deceitful, unhelpful, and conniving. The offices of the deans will do whatever necessary to cover up a mistake made by a faculty or staff member, or to cover up a scandal. The school's only priority is to fake its way to a reputation as an ideal school and get as much money as possible- student welfare is the absolute last thing on the administration's collective evil mind.

Roanoke College seems to be for rich children who couldn't make it at other schools or were tricked into coming here. The students have no social graces and act more like high school students who have recently become popular. Don't expect to make true or meaningful friendships here nor to have any intellectual discussions. Check out the rate of failed personal relationships of alumni.

Roanoke College was the worst decision I've ever made. There are only a handful of nice and accepting people here. Most people are just plain rude and disrespectful. They will trash the dorms, be obnoxious at all hours on weekdays, and will treat you like you're nothing if you don't come from a rich family. If you don't come from money, you'll probably be offered a good financial aid package because the school has the money to give away, but good luck making friends. The parties are mediocre, at best, and the Greeks basically run the campus. Pearls and polos are the only way to go here. There's nothing to do in the town, and the city of Roanoke might be the most boring "city" to ever exist. There's no school pride and the campus activities are all lame (unless you're 70 and bingo's your thing). You'll be loaded on homework and be prepared to write a five page paper a night even though the quality of your education is average. Oh, and when you realize this place sucks, you won't be able to leave because your gen eds (INQ classes) won't transfer and the professors screw your GPA by never giving anyone A's.
