UVA was a great experience socially for me. I met lots of great people that are friends today. I do wish I had challenged myself more as a student. Had I been in more of an academic environment rather than a social environment I might have done better in school which would have definitely helped me get started in my career.

If I had to do it again I would have gone to more of a teaching school like W&M or Davidson and then come to UVA for my MBA. UVA doesnt carry the prestige outside of the state that it does in VA( I live in CA).

Overall though I am satisfied and enjoy pulling for the Hoos in football and B-ball.

I applied early to UVA without thinking and was crushed when I got in - I wanted nothing to do with what I perceived to be an overblown exacerbation of the worst of my yuppie high school. I fully intended to spend my 1st year figuring out how to transfer elsewhere.

UVA and Charlottesville, however, changed all of that. I fell in love with the aesthetic of the grounds, and despite many reports to the contrary, the variety of different people here. While the Greek community may be a little (or a lot) homogeneous, the "city" of Charlottesville and many of UVA's own students have a lot to offer. I was fortunate enough to be in two majors - linguistics and communication disorders - that offered very individualized attention and a spectacular academic experience that have prepared me well for grad school. I can't imagine having gone anywhere else.

Being an incoming first-year, I cannot wait to get to UVA. It has been my dream school for several years, and I was so excited to be accepted. I love grounds, Charlottesville is great, and the people are way too friendly. I was more and more impressed with each visit I made to UVA. Football games are definitely a blast and I'm excited to get involved in Greek Life second semester. One more thing: We love Thomas Jefferson!
