Being an incoming first-year, I cannot wait to get to UVA. It has been my dream school for several years, and I was so excited to be accepted. I love grounds, Charlottesville is great, and the people are way too friendly. I was more and more impressed with each visit I made to UVA. Football games are definitely a blast and I'm excited to get involved in Greek Life second semester. One more thing: We love Thomas Jefferson!

Not so bright
I love the campus and the course work is challenging but if you really want candor, ok.
We are open to people from all walks of life but this is America and we should insist on english only. Also, I don't think our school is as conservative as some think because as long as you have the test scores we allow anyone willing to learn to attend. My girlfriend has a classmate K.Woods who is secretly stripping and is a high price call girl but she is smart as heck and carries a 3.7.
We are a great school, open to all.

If you are a narrow-minded, conservative, who enjoys drinking and are into Greek-dominated life than by all means come here. The students here are very high caliber, and have only five things in their life and that is money, family, partying, Christianity, and education. Basically being integrated here fully is like being part of a cult.
Honestly do not judge people here because they are different, because you will not be able to prove any judgement on them, because they will very much try to scientifically write down reasons why you are wrong and they are right.
If you like the idea of mixers and formals, than you will love it here. If you do not and still decide to come here, you should be very tolerant of people. Otherwise, you will live everyday here with negativity and pessimism.

UVA, despite hype, is a third-rate school. Its facilities in almost every area but athletics are falling down -- you would find better space for graduate students than is provided for many faculty. Good faculty are chased away, and only the brown-nosers hang around. Don't waste your money or your time.
