Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The advisory program or knowledge of academic progressionBrightCommunications
The advisory program or knowledge of academic progression is lacking in efficiency and accuracy. Honestly they don't know what their are doing. They have students futures in their hands and don't have the respect to even be concerned. Many advisors don't even have the time to meet with you properly or have the desire to engage your concerns about what is a realistic path when it comes to class progression. My advice is to plan ahead, get a second opinion (better yet) ask questions in the registration office before committing to a path that has been suggested by these unconcerned individuals. Some of the departments that are the worst are the communication, music and nursing department.

Question
I began attending the UVI as a transferBrightCommunications
I began attending the UVI as a transfer student, and was incredibly excited to return to the world of academics - unfortunately, that is not what I found. I am a communications major- and ironically the lack of communication is what I noticed most about this program. My first term I took a Law and Ethics class. I am hoping to go on to attend law school, so my interest level and expectations were very high. What this course turned out to be: the planning of a film festival. I would love to know how the two are related. This theme has continued, in which the class description has no bearing on the content of the course. This is not to say that there were not a few professors that were dedicated, professional, and helpful. But a team is only as strong as its weakest link. I love the Virgin Islands, I have lived here for eight years, so my negative experience is more disappointing than anything.
