UVI's Communication Department is not a safe placeBrightCommunications
UVI's Communication Department is not a safe place to pursue your degree. The advisor, who will also be your professor for many courses, is a rude, self-absorbed bully. She will make you feel bad about yourself in every turn if your actions do not align with what she wants. The Communication Department, with the exception of 2 professors, does not encourage creativity. It in fact, stifles it, and encourages you do to what you are told more. UVI is also not a safe social environment for someone who is not a local or a part of the majority on the island. You will also be told that joining an afterschool organization is mandatory for your degree, and not attending meetings or events for the organization will affect your grade. AVOID the Communications Department at all costs!!

Question
Avoid the communications degree program at all costs!Quite BrightCommunications
Avoid the communications degree program at all costs! Seriously! The advisor is a mean, vindictive bully who loves to push people around. When people push back, she retaliates both privately and publicly.

It sounds like it's a made up story, but this advisor is horrible as a teacher and a human being.
Please, please avoid the UVI communications program! For the love of God, don't take classes from this teacher.

This has to be the worst University on the planet!!! Don't go there!!!
The admin is horrible it took Monifa 4 weeks to get my daughter's meal plan in place so she could eat. Another 4 weeks to receive her books. It took them six months to send the VA enrollment verification paper work in so she did not receive her VA money. The English teacher told my daughter she had never given a passing grade to a basketball player, she give my daughter an F, the first F she has ever gotten. She is a stellar student with many academic awards. The teacher asked my daughter how to spell her first name her name my daughter's name is Jill.

The Basketball coach had the team stay for a Christmas tournament, the other invited teams did not show up. The campus closed at this time and the girls where locked out of their rooms, the cafeteria was closed, etc...The Basketball coach could not win games against High School teams, he don't improve the team or young women's skills at all. My daughter is a 88% free throw shooter and he sat her on the bench while the team shot 10% on free throws. I watched games where one girl attempted 22 field goal shots and made 0, in another game another player shot 20 times and made 2 while my daughter shots 60 plus % and sat the bench. The coach took the team on a road trip in which they lost every game, he was so embarrassed that he left the hotel early and the girls ended up sleeping in a McDonalds parking lot waiting on their flight. So the girls did not sleep in their hotel beds and the Stateside parents who made it to the game did not get to visit and take the girls to dinner. The team got into fist fights without disciplinary corrections taken. This represents just a small example of the troubles with this school. The Facility and administrators are slow, lazy, and dimwitted.
