I just finished my freshman year at Champlain. If you're into video games then this school is definitely for you. It has no sports teams, school spirit, greek life or anything that you think of when you think of college fun. The campus is pretty but small. You can get from one building to another in less then a minute. The dining hall does not have very good food unless you like tofu and bad burgers. It also has bad hours for when its open. The dorms are all in victorian style houses which is kind of cool. The majority of students are either computer techys or gamers. The other half are hipsters, stoners and snowboarder bros. Since its such a small school everyone knows each others business, it's a lot like high school. Drugs are pretty popular too. As for parties, don't count on finding a Champlain party. Me and my friends (who didn't go back this yr) liked partying and we had to go to UVM parties to do that. You need to know people to get into a party, and you have to pay usually. The classes are all really small and easy. Burlington is a fun town but to pricey for a college kids budget to do anything.

This is a great school. Yes, there are a fair amount of "stoners" but that is true on every college. Most of the kids are great. I say closed-minded because there are a lot of Liberals here. And Libs are closed minded to anyone else?s opinions but their own. A few of my professors base their grades on Politics or agreeing with their opinion. But from what my male and female friends tell me this is true everywhere even in business! In terms of the other "girls" here. I am a 7 on a 1-10 I would say, my personality is like an 8. I am not very sexually active. I can tell you that most of the negative freshman girls are homesick, homely or arrogant. I have met so many Psycho girls. They have tons of emotional issues. My friend is a Psych major at a Medical School and tells me lots of college aged girls are messed up. What I have noticed is how many "Easy" girls there are and female drunks. And I mean angry female drunks. These are probably the girls writing the reviews. Remember most people who write negative things on these boards really should be speaking to a counselor to find out the root cause of their anger. Ladies beeeellliiiieeevveee me you would not be happy at Harvard or even an all boys school were all the boys were hitting on you.

My advice to kids considering Champlain is to COMPLETELY ignore these boards and randomly stop kids around campus and ask them what they think. American's are such spoon fed babies, whine whine whine. What are these girls going to do when they get into a real job?

Finally they are also eliminating CORE, so the issues you see on this topic are mute!

I am a transfer student from a school of similar size in NY, I transferred because i was unhappy with living in the boonies with no access to the Mountains. They screwed me over on transferring because of the CORE, It sucks and needs to be more open. I should be a Junior but they consider me a sophomore, it is irritating.

That being said i am so far enjoying the school. My teachers are for the most part really good, we have a lot of good discussions that teaches me how to apply what I have learned so far, from both Champlain and my last school.

The nightlife here in Burlington is pretty rad. There seems to always be a few parties going on around Burlington but it can be difficult to find something concrete. Most of the apartments in the area are small and packed full of kids but it can be a great time. There are a lot of people who smoke both cigs and weed but it's in Burlington's blood, there are a lot of head shops here.

I can not wait for the winter to hit, everyone on campus is very excited about this coming season. There are shuttles to the surrounding resorts every weekend, I plan to take full advantage of this. I got a full seasons pass to Sugarbush for $100 through the school. Not a typo, $100. go 2 times and it is paid for

As for what the freshman girls are saying, don't believe them. Sure there are some douche bags but they are everywhere. Most people are friendly and intelligent but I do see what she was saying about there being little circles of friends that can be hard to get into. College is what you make of it, get out there and just be yourself. It is beautiful here, Vermont is a awesome state, besides the slow speed limits and poorly maintained roads.
