S
TUDENTS come to Marlboro College for a lot of reasons: the small campus, the rural setting, the iconoclastic people who make up so much of the college community.  But they stay for the academics, and it is Marlboro's approach to educating people that makes it unique in higher education.

With its small classes, tutorials and individualized course of study, Marlboro puts the student at the center of the educational process.  Students, in turn, are expected to respond by taking initiative and accepting responsibility, not just for their own academics, but for the college community as a whole.

With a faculty and staff who eat with students in the dining hall, participate with students in monthly Town Meetings and serve with students on campus committees, it is easy to understand how Marlboro's approach to academics and civil responsibility spring from the same philosophy.
