This is a review of the CWU-Des MoinesDec 03 2010Engineering Department
This is a review of the CWU-Des Moines campus Masters of Science in Engineering Technology (MSET) program. This is an evening program for working professionals so many of the rating categories do not apply.

The program on this campus is underfunded and under staffed. We are charged for labs that we never get to do since the facilities are not available on the Des Moines campus. Main campus does not provide the same support for the faculty and students as they would a student on main campus. We are basically second class citizens...

Class choices are limited and lectures are uncoordinated and seem very unprepared since there is really only one professor and he is teaching a full load of classes at night and running all the administrative functions during the day. While I have learned a few things in this program, many of the students (undergrads and graduate) myself included, are just here to get the piece of paper more than learn anything. CWU main campus is a good school, I went there for my undergrad program, I was hoping for the same quality in their satellite campus programs. Unfortunately, I find myself very disappointed.

Question
When I applied to CWU, their celebrated violinNov 14 2006Music - Performance
When I applied to CWU, their celebrated violin teacher had already decided to take sabbatical this year, and yet, no one said anything about it. They have carefully kept this information quiet because they know that violin students apply to their school specifically to study with Carrie Rehkopf. Ms. Rehkopf is too busy running the Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival so she wanted some time off. However, because of their bizarre efforts to hide this information, I believe she isn't coming back. I think the university is deliberately using her to lure unsuspecting violin students to apply to their rinky-dink school. The law calls this "bait and switch" and it is a form of fraud, which is illegal. In addition, they led me to believe I was being considered for a graduate assistantship, then stalled me until it was too late for me to apply elsewhere. They reclassified the position to be only a faculty position and claimed that I was not qualified for any of their other assistantships, even though I have many years of teaching and performing experience. Their music dept chair has a terrible reputation in the community for not paying his bills on time and is generally considered to be a very dishonest man.
