About the city guy..the people here in the rural part are really nice. Cars would wave to you and let you pass across them. I don't really like city people myself. Always been a redneck yeeh-haw! Even though Cheney has nothing in it, Spokane is right next by. If you're from the Puget Sound, you can easily take Amtrak and the Grey Hound or book a flight to Spokane and take the Bus/Taxi to get here. The price to attend is very good compared to the the costly private schools. What a deal! EWU is a bang for your buck! They really care about you over here. The campus and student body are a great size, large enough to meet new people all the time and small enough to see familiar faces. The campus is beautiful. The town of Cheney is small but there is plenty to do in Spokane a short and free bus ride away. Eastern just built a new recreation center complete with indoor running track, rock climbing wall and NHL sized hockey rink. I had a great time at Eastern and highly recommend it! Overall, a very good school with a fantastic honors program (this prepared me well for grad school. A few of my Honors courses were more difficult than my graduate level classes!). Classes are small, and faculty work with students to promote research. One warning--the university is underfunded, lowering overall visible quality (nothing shiny and new here). I was a nerd, so I don't know how to rate the social life, although I've heard it's great. ALSO, THERE IS NOTHING IN CHENEY. GO TO SPOKANE for entertainment.
