People, be warn!! Do not go here ifAverageBiology
People, be warn!! Do not go here if you do not money. I went to Alverno to major in the nursing field, and most of the staffs were horrible. They talked on subjects that does not even deal with the tests. Then the Dean of nursing was a horrible person who told a lot of the students that they are not suited to be a nurse. Also, a lot of nursing students are sobs and think they are higher than any other students on the campus. The nursing field had gone bad. More than half of the class either drop, switch, or failed every semester due to their high expectation, which the professors lack of explaining.

Another thing is that this college is very money hungry even after you graduate. They will constantly send you mail asking a donation of $200 and up to help out with all these new stuff for the students. To be honest, they wasted a lot of the money on decorating the freaking campus than spending it on technology, art, science, etc. they only updated certain area of the campus (#cough# nursing ) They could save a lot of money having perennials flowers than buying annual flowers. They kept saying they are the cheapest private school in the US. If so, STOP INCREASING institution!!! People,if you plan to get a house but have a huge ass debt from this college. Just forget about it. All they will do is kept asking more money even after your done. The job you will have, it will not cover your daily expense. You will be paying your loan for a long time, like me.....

The good thing about this college after I switch my major to Biology, the teachers will make time to meet with you and explain to you about the different subjects, and they will tutor you. The biology professors understand the subjects and they tried their best to related to real life jobs. The business office understand about the money struggles you have, and they will help out with another scholarship or put you on a payment which you can afford, they also extend the payment plans. The internship office will try to help you find interns that pay or have scholarships that paid you while your on it. classes are small and they are a lot of group discussions and subjects. They teach you how to deal with people whom you strongly dislike in a nice mean way(trust me.....i rather work alone or work with guys than girls.) The library have electronic resources to do your research project, if not they are connected to other colleges to get the materials you need and they even paid for the research articles that will forever be in Alverno data space. they have classes for you to prepare for the advance college (to be honesty, most graduated college don't care as long you have the money)...... this college is not bad place to go to but be warn. they are money hungry and nursing students are sobs. if they stop increasing the amount of intuition, it might be okay school. however, would i come here again....NO!

Question
Pro's: some of the professors are great, amazingQuite BrightBiology
Pro's: some of the professors are great, amazing and very well knowledged. professors always have office hours, so it's easy to get a hold of them. they require you to do an internship before you graduate-- a great plus!

con's: some biology professors are bitches. they treat you like everything you do, you are stupid, and they bully students as well!! (but students are so afraid to tell anyone because if you snitch on one professor, you've put a target on your back and the entire department hates you)

once you're in, you can never get out. they do anything and everything in their power to keep you in their school- these people are so money hungry!

tuition is up the ass and all of technology is so outdated! they spend tons of money making the school look "pretty" when they should be spending it on better things like technology-- which we pay so much $$ for. we only have one main computer lab that's always available-- which only consists of about 30-40 computers.

fitness center is so small, when it's packed you can never get a good workout in-- and the school is about being "healthy".

athletes: the athletics department is also corrupt- the director was sleeping with an athlete before she graduated-- oh and now he's marrying her! they totally favor their athletes here over everyone else!

if you want to persue higher education after your undergrad, they make things extremely hard to get your grades! or if you want to see them in general- which i don't understand why it's so complicated when they're your grades and you paid your tuition!

there's no such thing as graduating with honors if you have straight a's-- they only way you can graduate with honros is if you're extremely involved and litterally is the school's "bitch", other than that your straight a's grade equivalency does not matter!don't go to school here unless you're a nursing or educdation major and you're never gonna change majors!!!! every other major here sucks! and you won't find a job b/c of the stupid grading system!

Question
I love my school. Not so brightArt & Design Department
I love my school. It is hard to adjust to Alverno's 8 abilities Pass Fail system and their intense feedback but in the long run you will look back on those semesters where you were all over the place and wonder "WOW! have I grown since then. I can't believe that was me." Bad about Alverno- well because we are a small school our our money flow can be a bit tight and that tends to show in the small departments we have. However there are so many things good about this school. Teachers will push you till you get things right because they want you to pass. You might not see it that way at first but if you go to a college with grades they will just look at your homework and if you failed an assignment you failed it no chance at making it up. compared to hear you will correct it till you get it right. There is a place for everyone here. Alverno likes to integrate traditions from different cultures into the culture on campus. For example we celebrate Day of The Dead and we have alters up around campus for people to enjoy and honor. People think we are a conservation college and that we are the typical old school christian college but we are very liberal actually. Advice- Well my first advice would be to grow some thick skin because it will come in handy with all the self assessing you have to do and all the feedback you will get. You will be hurt but when going here you have to make the move to make yourself a stronger and better individual. That alone is what makes us different.
