Here are the reasons I wish I had gone to college some place else:

1) Much too expensive for the average quality education you receive
2) Bad location- The campus area is noisy, run down, crime infested, smelly, and Milwaukee's dreary weather makes it all the more depressing

3) Too many conceited rich kids who are there just to get their ticket punched- the campus culture is toxic.

I've steered my kids far away from the place. That says it all.

Marquette University is not worth the money you pay to attend. The basketball team and the hype around it are the only thing that helped get me through my first and only year at Marquette. I am now attending school in North Carolina and am much happier. The school work is very difficult which is good, but besides the education there is not much more the school has to offer. The name is prestigious but mostly because of the cost, and being a private Jesuit university. The staff has office hours, but they are usually extremely short and many students are waiting so often times I was rushed or had another student with me, which made me hold back or leave because I didn't want other students knowing my struggle, I wanted my professor just to help me understand. Instead almost every single time, I was rushed and given short, annoyed answers. All of my TA's DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. It was very frustrating trying to keep up in class when you couldn't understand a word they were saying. There are a lot of nice people on campus, but if one doesn't make friends fast, then cliques are formed without you. I don't think anyone in any of my classes talked to me without me previously knowing them. Where I'm from that was not how people behaved so it was difficult to enjoy campus and school in general. If you have deep deep pockets and a lot of patience and determination, Marquette may be the perfect fit for you. But if you're looking for an education in which the professors take the time to genuinely help you to understand the material, and you want to know a lot of people I suggest going elsewhere.

During my time at Marquette University I was an average student. My first year I had above a 3.0. My second year I had a 2.8. All during my semesters I never went below a 2.5. Again, this is not great, it's only average. My last semester there I got a 1.5. I failed three classes and got B's in the others. Granted, this was my own fault, I was lazy and depressed. At the end of the semester I received one notification email saying that if I did not appeal in 6 days via email that I would get kicked out. I didn't get the notification until 2 days after my appeal was due. I emailed the administration immediately giving my reason's for why I did not respond. They kicked me out anyways. I had one bad semester and they didn't even give me a real chance to prove myself. This is supposed to be a Catholic University, but they are fooling themselves. THey are no more Catholic than a Buddhist monk is.
