This school has so much to offer and so much to do. The workload allows you to develop both intellectually in and out of the classroom. With over 700 student organizations and along with top-notch Big Ten athletics you are sure to find something that you are passionate about. Although UW-Madison does lack in diversity, it's open-minded student body more than makes up for it. Fellow students are very friendly and welcoming. Wanting to get away from home I had intended on attending the University of Texas or USC, but because of financial reasons I decided to stay in-state. I can honestly say it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I would recommend this University to anyone who cares deeply about developing academically and socially. Academia is alive and well in Madison, WI. with plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself during the week, and let loose on the weekends - and the occasional Thursday.. or Wednesday. or Tuesday. I come from a small town in northern Wisconsin, so I was nervous about getting "lost in the shuffle" of Madison. However, this was rarely the case. The vast majority of people want to see you succeed and will go out of their way to give you advice and help you out. The enthusiasm of the student body is amazing; everyone is proud to be a Badger and passionate about what they are involved in.The social life is great. There's constantly something to do and exciting people to do it with. Most people go to house parties, the bars seem to be more for the coasties.
