I think that Platteville was a great experience both socially and educationally. The staff and students are both amazing and really care about your success. I would suggest any student serious about their future seriously consiter UW-P. It has a major university level of education with a small town feel.

UW Platteville is a great small town campus. The small population allows for much 1 on 1 contact with professors. Most professors are willing and enthusiastic about helping students succeed. Professors look beyond class coursework and create assignments relavent to real world problems. They will not give you the answer or method to every problem, but the knowledge to work your way through anything you come to, both in the classroom and on the job. Career focus is high, with a large job placement upon graduation. Many quality career resources and services available on campus.

Campus is expanding with several new buildings. A new residence hall is to be finished for Fall 2006 and a second engineering building is in the planning stages. Also a new student center has been completed in the past 2 years, as well as a remodeled building which now houses the computer science program. To top this off, UWP is the only public school in wisconsin with state approval to grow (expected to add 2000 more students in the coming years). This is a great school with a fantastic engineering program. If you are looking to the big name schools for engineering, compare them to UWP. UWP students are often prefered by employers over those from the big name schools because of the quality education they recieve at UWP.
